good location wins
Stayed for two nights. The location is the best feature and all amenities are nearby.The rooms are in need of a refurb and the bathrooms are just adequate, however everything you need including washer/dryer is there.plenty of breakfast places within 100yards as well as pubs and restaurants. The shopping strip is right there as well

Great Stay!
I have to say, having seen some of the other reviews on the Mantra, I feel they are either very harsh, or the reviewers had an entirely different experience to us.We stayed here to attend a wedding in nearby Buderim, having travelled all over Australia prior to arriving in Mooloolaba, so had experienced many different types of accomodation before we arrived. There were two adults and one child in our party.On arrival we were perfectly greeted by a really nice receptionist and given all the info we needed.Our room was on the second floor and was spotlessly clean with modern facilities. Decent kitchenette, small but nice balcony and bedroom, and a bathroom with the apparently "scary" glass wall. Seriously, if this kind of thing offends you, perhaps you should get a room to yourself! The spa bath was great and you can easily hide everything with the shower curtain if you feel you have to. We have no complaints with the room at all, other than, there wasn't enough toilet paper and we had to ask for some more which was delivered in minutes. Hardly a big deal.The location is fantastic, with loads of amenities, shops, restaurants and the beach within a few minutes walk away. Public barbecues a bit further along and the excellent (if busy) Mooloolaba Surf Club a ten minute walk away.We didn't use the indoor pool, and to be honest, it didn't look up to much, but the outdoor pool was absolutely fine.We would definitely stay here again.

You could do better, a lot better
We stayed for 3 nights in May 2013 (2 adults).First the Positives:The hotel is situated in an excellent location, a stones throw from the beach (and some lovely walks), shops and restaurants. A coles supermarket, bakery and newsagent are also conveniently located beside the hotel.The furnishings ( 1 bedroom unit) were comfortable and modern, with a washing machine and very basic supplies (1 sachet or washing powder, 1 sachet of dish washing liquid, 2 rolls toilet paper and the usual toiletries) - not really enough for a multiple night stay but handy none the less.There are two pools (one indoor, one outdoor) and a gymnasium which appear to be in good order and popular with guests.The staff at reception were friendly though we did not have a lot of dealings with them.The negatives:Where to begin! - the room itself appeared clean at first until we came across cockroach and/or some type of vermin droppings in the lounge room , on the second day of our stay we came across fresh rodent droppings in the kitchen sink, though no sign of the actual animal.. revolting. The shower was moldy and completely ridiculous in design - a circular spa bath with shower attached and a giant window peering directly into the bedroom. Though a shower curtain is supplied which covers the window, it offers nothing when someone uses the bathroom or toilet at night because the bathroom light illuminates the entire bedroom. The elevators were often wet on the floor due to patrons using the pools.Overall : Don't expect frills, bells and whistles. If you are looking for a quick stop over and don't mind cleaning up after yourself, then this is comfortable accommodation however I certainly think you could find something of much better quality and cleanliness for similar if not less money than the cost of this stay.The location is really the only thing that stops me from giving this hotel an entirely negative review and we certainly will not be coming back.

Great location tired building
Got a Wotif special in queen room apartment which had the peculiar shower/spa set up referred to in one of the other reviews. We were in room 911 on 9th floor in the ocean view room which was terrific. Apartment had laundry and kitchenette but there are also outdoor bbqs at the swimming pool which is fantastic. Location is great. Room was comfortable but needing a bit of tlc. If staying here, a great restaurant is Via Italia in the Peninsula building not too far down the esplanade.

Very nice
We had a 1 bedroom apartment on the north east corner with partial ocean views. It was difficult to manouver in the small bedroom. The unit was very clean with a spacious lounge, kitchen and bathroom and the small bedroom. The setup in the bathroom is odd as the shower doubles as a spa bath with a see-through glass wall between it and the bedroom. That's not so much of a problem but the toilet is in the bathroom and one has to ensure the shower curtain is pulled so that s/he can't be oberved from the bedroom when attending to ablutions. The other drawback is that the bedroom lights up when someone uses the toilet during the night. But this is no great issue and the resort is well maintained and located. If considering staying here be sure to get a room on the eastern side as the western side will be very hot and views are not so good.
