OK Hotel in Kyoto
We usually like Starwood Hotels a lot, also Westin Hotels. This Kyoto Hotel is well located in Kyoto and has a phantastic view over the city. The shuttle service is quite convenient. However the building, the rooms and their furniture are not very modern.When checking in we got disappointed. At 2.45 pm the receptionist did not give us the room and asked us to wait for another hour or so. While this is certainly okay if the hotel is fully occupied, this was undoibtedly not the case inow season. This is something we do not expect at such a hotel and at this point in time in the afternoon.

Gorgeous hotel.
We stayed here for 3 nights and had a fantastic deal, paid only SGD $120 per night, it was too good a deal to pass up. Location is towards the hills and its convenient. A subway station is just 2 minutes away from the hotel and we took advantage of the free hotel shuttle to and from Kyoto station. The rooms were big, bathroom was spotless, view was great, just what you expect of a good hotel really. We had 1 small complaint, the internet connection tend to "turned itself off" after 11pm or midnight till around 8-9am. I am not sure if its for all rooms but we were in room 1008, every day, the internet wasnt working during those period of time for some reason, but it was no big deal. Staff of the hotel was great and this hotel is just amazing. Pls get a room with a view of the city, its very worth your while.

Beautiful hotel in a serene setting
This was the perfect location after our stay in Tokyo. We felt removed from the noise and crowds of the city, yet we were able to travel easily and quickly from one end of the city to the other on the subway which is steps from the hotel's entrance. We also took advantage of the free shuttle bus which allowed us to stash our bags in the Westin's concierge office at the train station when we arrived (so we could have some excellent sushi at Musashi which is located in the station). Taxis from the hotel to the center of Kyoto were also surprisingly inexpensive (especially compared to Tokyo). Our room was large, spotlessly clean, the bed was super comfortable and the view of the city from our balcony was amazing. With one exception every staff member was extremely professional, helpful and friendly. The exception was the manager of the Moonlight Bar who greeted us by barking 'no' to our request to have a cocktail even though there were empty tables and 'no' again when we asked if there was somewhere else in the hotel serving cocktails. So we went to the hotel's AquaBlue Cafe and had a perfect martini. There is a path behind the hotel (access is from the 7th floor) that travels up the mountain where we heard many birds and at the top of the trail the view of the city is spectacular. Highly recommended. We also walked on the philosopher's path which is very near the hotel and runs along a canal. Peaceful and beautiful. If we go back to Kyoto this is where we will stay.

Great hotel, great location
We were a bit skeptical because of some reviews, and then we wonder if there could be a huge difference in rooms. Our room was very spacious , clean, modern, great roomy bathroom with the best shower ever. The housekeeping was unbelievable , maybe the best housekeeping we ever experienced. Our room had two double beds, a table with two chairs, a daybed, nice balcony with two chairs and table with great view of the mountains and the city.We loved the location, yes it is notion the middle of the city like the Okura hotel, but the metro is right around the corner and three stops away from the famous Gion district. The hotel is very well kept, it might look a bit dated on the outside but our room was beautiful. We loved the evening housekeeping, kimono and pj's are put ready for you bathroom is always spotless, always fresh towels, even after three showers a day. We did not eat in the hotel, so I have no review for this. We had breakfast a couple mornings on our balcony, great coffee and tea are free in the room.From the hotel you are a couple minutes away from beautiful temples and gardens, even the walk at the hotel is worth doing.There is also am free shuttle to the city two times an hour, we did not use this often as we bought two day passes for bus and metro, which costs approx $10 a day, and brings you all over the city.We greatly enjoyed our stay in the Westin Kyoto and would not hesitate to go back, and we surely will, thanks Westin Kyoto for making this a memorable vacation !

Clean, spacious hotel and great staff.
Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms that are well looked after. Location is not ideal for tourist attractions but the subway station is 1 minute walk and there is a free shuttle bus to and from the main train station as well as the centre of tourist attractions. Overall, it is a great hotel that I would recommend to anyone.
