The staff were friendly and helpful, and especially efficient on reception. Though it could benefit from some good overall supervision. We arrived late afternoon on a Saturday in May 2013 to stay for one night. the reception and bar were cold, luckily the rooms were not. But the whole place could do with some major refurbishment. In the corridors to the bedrooms there was linen left on the floors and storage cupboards left open most of the time, which in some ways was good as we had to help ourselves to tea coffee etc as there was not enough in our rooms. The shower was extremely difficult to operate. The room was clean and tidy though. Breakfast on Sunday morning was NOT good at all. The cooked breakfast wasn't too bad although we think the mushrooms were out of a tin, the rest of breakfast was buffet style Do-it-yourself. The cups had coffee runs down them before they'd even been used! We have no idea what type of coffee it was but it was SO BAD no body could drink it. We had to ask for marmalade as there wasn't any put out. This definitely is not a 4 star hotel.

Attended the hotel for our daughters wedding reception and first impressions for the guests were not great with waste bins overflowing with litter in the car park, glasses left on window sills etc. I had previously attended a couple of meetings with her to ensure everything would be OK on the day and ensure that things would run smoothly. We were late to the hotel but were kept waiting in the bar as the main function room was not ready. Everyone sat down for the meal and credit where it is due the food served in the afternoon was perfectly good and the girls serving the food were very pleasant and willing.When the staff were asked for wine glasses for one table of 10 we were informed that there were not available but could people drink their wine out of a tumbler !!!. 8 guests could not attend for various reasons, four of which advised in good time and the hotel advised they would not charge, however the Manager then claimed to not remember this and was rude, surly and unhelpful. On the evening there was a disco and food arrived on time but a staff member let slip that it was food left over from the previous day when a function had not finished it all. After the disco a number of the residents asked for drinks from the bar only to be told that there was no-one in the hotel authorised to serve them.A lot of people stayed at the hotel and our room could have done with a refurbishment with frayed and stained carpets and the bathroom grouting looking like it had been done by a five year old.The view from the window was of rubbish in the back car park which did not seem to have been cleaned for some time. If you have a wedding or family function planned beware as the hotel seems to operate on a hand to mouth existence. This is NOT a four star hotel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The staff where lovely but this is not a 4 star. The room was very poor and needed a lick of paint. It was okay for one night but no more than that. The room was very small and the pillows where like biscuits and no spare ones in the room. As soon as I walked in the room I could hear the shower dripping and fixed that and the menu was poor and went to a local pub and had a lovely meal. If you want my advice, one night is okay if on business like i was, but that is it.

After reading the previous reviews I was really dreading going to this hotel however, we had a lovely time. The hotel itself is lovely. Placed in a very quiet residential area, full of character and very comfortable. It seems that some reviews are a little harsh.The reception staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful and recommended some great nearby restaurants and shopping areas.We stayed in room 210 and it was perfect for what we needed. The bathroom was clean an tidy and the room was spacious and well equipped. Could do with a little fridge.Coming from a catering back ground and very fussy about food I found the breakfast was ok. There was lots to choose from and set out well.The one bad thing is that there is no mobile reception but that¿¿¿s not the hotels fault.I would stay at this hotel again.

this hotel needs a good update room was very dusty stains on carpet plastering on wall falling off dripping tap window was very dirty I did complain 4 times I did get free upgrade butt i was a bridemaid at best friends wedding and had to move my stuff in my outfit I booked early breakfast butt no tea or coffie food was ok butt not good you cant call this a 4 star hotel the staff did the best they could what should have been a nice stay was not good
