Kind of dodgy
The room was spacious, the sheets were clean (comforting faint smell of bleach) and the bed was very comfy. That is all the pros.Everything was pretty drab, worn, faded... We weren't in the main building and it felt like we were living in a cheap dodgy apartment block (the neighbours smoking outside the room in their pyjamas added to that). It was adequate but I won't go back.

High Tea Experience
For my mothers birthday I wanted to treat her to High Tea. The experience we had at Rydges was nothing short of outstanding. The food was delicious, scones just out of the oven, a delicious creme br¿¿l¿¿e, a chocolate mousse encased in a chocolate base was just to die for, as well as many other extraordinary treats. The service was brilliant with Danny asking us many times if he could do anything for us, without being intrusive in our afternoon at all. I will be recommending this venue to all my friends.

Old, dirty, smelly - don't bother - even if they have special deals!
Buildings and grounds were fine, however our room - twin beds with lounge area - dirty, old and disappointing. Old furnishings, cracked and worn bathroom and kitchen area, dusty carpet & furniture and toilet smell throughout. Didn't even have a couch in lounge area - only 2 old chairs!!! Breakfast (incl. in price) was very average. Some staff were friendly - others weren't. Very disappointed. Don't bother. Please see photos.

Worst beds ever (except for a thailand dive once).
Really really really bad old mattresses. It's like you are sleeping on a ski slope. The room was BIG (twin superior) but the TV was in a separate space and couldn't be watched whilst in bed (isn't that one of the luxuries of staying in a hotel?). There was a pull down extra bed in the 'tv room'. I've never seen one of these so had a quick look. DANGER DANGER it was the worst foul old mattress I have ever seen. If i had a dog I wouldn't let it sleep on it. So if you are a family and they offer you a superior twin room with pull down bed say NOOOOO. Try and get there before 8 when reception shuts, cos if you have to check in at the bar it may take u a while cos it wasn't staffed.

Easter Break
While the suite was spacious, we had booked an antique room and expected far more than the tatty mismatched furniture that was presented. The TV room was particularly shabby and in desperate need of an overhaul. The kitchen was very dated, and overall clean, however it would seem that the area behind the microwave had not been wiped for months. The bathroom was terrible: dated, tired and to top it off had long black hairs stuck to the floor. Bedroom, particularly the bed was lovely. Even the reception room chaise was tattered and threadbare - not a good first impression. No free internet. Probably would have considered staying for breakfast if this was offered, but we usually head to a cafe that is smart enough to provide this for free!Staff were friendly and helpful.
