Revitalised Property
The isolation of Perth usually means most hotels are priced higher than other capital cities.The Metro in South Perth has been around a while and was always seen as a budget hotel in need of an uplift. That has happened, it is still in the development mode, but each trip there sees improvements.The great thing about the hotel is it's postion, only a 10 minute drive from the CBD on Canning Hwy. This allows easy access to the Kwinana Freeway, and The Great Eastern Hwy and the airport.Parking is always an issu in Perth hotels, but here it is free.The rooms have ben modernised and are clean and comfortable for both the holiday maker or businessman. The relaxation facilities are small but friendly, as is the restaurant, the buffet style meals are good value as is the ample breakfast. The pool has been revitalisedThe real pearl is the stunning views across the river to the city, (if you ask for and get a river view room.Price is acceptable for the quality and position, all in all a nice hotel.

Never again
We stayed here only because our daughter lived nearby. We booked and paid for three weeks and were given a one bedroom apartment which was tired to say the least. After seven days we asked if it would be possible to vacuum the carpets as they had not been cleaned since our arrival. We were told that this and linen change was carried out every three days! I would have thought that at the price charged they could have afforded a cleaner more often. The restaurant rarely had any guests and the food mundane. The bar area was frequented by local tradesmen and also unapealing.Our daughter bought us a two night holiday in the Swan Valley for Christmas. Upon our return to the Metro, despite paying for a superior room we were given a room overlooking the air conditioning units which cut in all night long. There was a corrugated iron wall and damp patches. The roof was covered in cigarette butts.At least this room was cleaner than the last.

Give Me Your Money
I had the bad luck of attending a conference here over 3 days.Because of the location (miles from anywhere) I had little choice of accommodation.Usually I book a hotel in the city, with corporate discount or internet deal I only pay $150 or so per night.This, at the 'conference special' price of $219 (plus 1.5% surcharge for CC), was more than I like to spend. But the view is nice.The room was average in furnishings. But had 10 or so extra TV channels, so a plus there.But my 'foxtel' didn't work. I contacted the desk & they sent someone to fix it. But there was nothing he could do.The person who had the ???? had knocked off (in was about 4:30 pm) & no one else could help.So that made for a boring night for me. I was looking forward to a quite night watching National Geographic Channel or a in-house movie.On to the conference.Rather poor.The aircon didn't work, lucky it wasn't hot & we had a door to the outside open.The Fan helped, but that just made it hard for the presenters to hear comments/questions.What did we have for lunch.Day 1 sandwichesDay 2 sandwiches.After this the training organiser complained to the hotelDay 3. Bay-marie stuff, probably leftovers from the Buffett they had on the night before.I didn't try it on-the-night, it looked pretty ordinary for $39.As there nothing else available from the restaurant that night I had a room service hamburger & chips. That was cheap at $25 dollars plus $4.50 to take it to my room.But at least I could enjoy my $30 hamburger with the in-house movie.When I booked out & had to pay my room service I decided to complain.This is not something that I have ever done to a hotel before.I suggested that as I had only limited TV available for the first night (foxtel was one of the reasons I stayed there) they could knock $40 off my bill (this being the price of the meal I bought from them on the first night).The answer was no.I spoke to the manager about it & was unable to persuade her that they didn't deliver the services I paid for (in room entertainment) so I deserved compensation.Her answers:Perhaps it was foxtel's fault.You could of changed rooms (no such offer suggested at the time, for I certainly would of taken it)If you really wanted to watch late night movies I could come down & view the screen it the foyer. In my pyjamas, with a tinny in my hand, I presume. got what I paid for in this managers eyes.So nothing off my bill of almost $800.This whole hotel is obviously there for one reason.Grab as much money as possible from the FIFO workers who use it because it is convenient to the Airport & (I Suppose) cassino.

Spend your Money else where
What can I say,, I found the staff to be rude and surly, an attitude of take it or leave it, that appears to be coming from upper management.Room service took 50 minutes!! to deliver.What ever you do, don't get a room on the Highway side of the hotel, the traffic noise will keep you awake all night.

Comfortable stay
The hotel is not in the main CBD but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel door which will take you there. Rooms are very comfortable with a small balcony and stunning views of the city if you are lucky to get one on the off-road side of the hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. I don't understand other reviews that say it was noisey - not in my experience and I was there for 5 days.
