A shabby little hotel
Our bad stay in this hotel started with the rude reception at the front desk. The clerk made it clear that he was not a person-people. Just rude, taciturn and a nasty beginning for a second rate hotel. There is no lobby. There is a seating are for six people for the whole hotel. people constantly smoke there, but no hotel workers ever seem to tell them it is a no smoking area. In the room, There is not even a real door to the bathroom. There just a wood-like board hanging that slides to cover the opening to the bathroom. The air conditioning/furnace unit is several decades old and extremely noisy. The room might rate about a 2 even though they could not even go to the trouble of providing glasses anywhere -- just cheep plastic cups. And no refrigerator. The dirty dishes left in front of our door (not by us) was removed after more than twelve hours. Our room was cleaned the first day a few minutes before 5. The hallways are noisy all night and we never saw a security person in the guest rooms are, only in the casinos. We would never stay I this place again.

Gambling visit
We stopped at Gold Coast as it was next to The Rio and it is very run down and seems to cater to the Asian's. Our friends played Bingo and we did some slots. We did a valet for the car as my knee was hurt. When we went out to get the car there was only 1 guy to take in cars in and to go get pick ups. There was a pretty good line waiting for their cars so this is not good. Not a place I would stay or visit again.

Not impressed but it sure was cheap
We stayed at the Gold Coast May 10th-13th at the beginning of our Vegas/Arizona trip. Although the hotel looks at it may have been recently renovated on the inside, I still found it unkept and awkward. Rooms: the beds were comfortable and the room was pretty clean; however, the shower doesn't have a door and water will find itself all over the bathroom floor. Casino: the casino was way too bright for me. When I think of a casino, I do not want an atmosphere which reminds me of kissing the sun. I prefer it a little darker. Also, we had terrible luck in this casino after gambling a few days there. There are many old games which seemed to pay out barely anything. I am not unrealistic about gambling as I expect to lose my money, but I would prefer to lose it with a little game play. Just taking my money isn't fun for me. One positive note was that the cocktail waitress that we had the nights we were there was wonderful and attentive. We did receive loads of "free" drinks which kept us happy. She even remembered what we drank from one night to the next, which was really a nice touch. Hotel Staff: There were many people checking in and out of the casino on the weekend, so they were pretty busy. They weren't overtly friendly, and the front desk area was kind of old and run down. Granted this place is pretty inexpensive and off the strip a bit, but it doesn't mean it has to be shabby. We were given tickets for each night stayed to get into the breakfast buffet. When we arrived on Sunday morning, we were told that it was a "special" buffet as it was Mother's Day and our tickets were not valid. We wasted about 10 minutes of our time while the breakfast buffet manager called somewhere (I am assuming the front desk) to see if we could use our tickets as we protested that they shouldn't have given them to us if they were not going to honor them. After the 10 minutes, she advised us that they would not honor them. We didn't complain as we were on vacation and there is no sense in getting worked up about a stupid buffet breakfast when we can get a better one offsite, but I guess it was the principal behind it. If they made a mistake, they should have honored it. I wasn't pleased with their decision after all of our game play in that casino. Overall: The casino is old with low ceilings, dirty halls, and little pay out on the machines. The hotel staff was not accommodating and did not honor their mistake. Although my husband¿¿¿s parents had stayed here many times before years ago, I will personally not ever step into the Gold Coast again. On a side note, the elevator will stop at every floor even though there is not anyone waiting. Do not get off on the torn up floor¿¿¿who knows what you will find there!

Another wonderful stay!
I have been going to Vegas 1-3 times a year for over 20 years. I abandoned the Strip over 10 years ago because it's simply does not appeal to me anymore for numerous reasons. So I write this review from the perspective of a non-Strip yet frequent traveler who enjoys off-Strip properties and always rents a car. I always book Sunday-Friday stays during non-holidays.This is my fifth stay at the Gold Coast and my second review of this hotel, and I simply LOVE this hotel. I love its off-Strip location, I love the room prices, and I love the staff! I have also stayed at the Sam's Town and Orleans Boyd properties and this is by far my favorite, although those properties are fine.If you're considering this hotel, no it's not the Aria or the Bellagio, but the rooms are EXCEPTIONALLY nice, clean, and updated for the price.Parking is a breeze at the Gold Coast. I always park in the parking garage, which is easy to navigate and has easy access to the hotel lobby. I've never had a break-in or felt unsafe in the garage. I can't say I've seen oodles of security, but I've also never felt like there was a reason to be afraid.I always arrive before the 'official' check-in time (which I think is 2pm) and the hotel (along with ALL Boyd properties) allows me to check in early without incurring an additional charge, as long as rooms are available. I've never encountered a line with more then five people and my longest wait has been under 10 minutes. Can you say that about the Strip properties? In all my years at Boyd properties, I've never had a problem with check-in, or have I been mischarged for anything. Boyd does hotels right. The one time I was denied early check-in is simply because there were no rooms available. All the rooms you see on TripAdvisor are accurate. The difference between the Deluxe and Premium (I may have those backwards) are either a tub or walk-in shower, according to the front desk. I couldn't care less about a tub, so my room had the walk-in shower (Deluxe?) and it was dustless and practically flawless, save for a few semi-loose tiles and some stains on the carpet, which I attribute to guest more than the hotel. The room service staff clean the room perfectly...I never saw so much as a paper shred on the carpet and the bed was made very tight. There was no dust or even any damage other than normal wear and tear.A few notable points about my stay, that I must commend the Gold Coast on:I had a medical issue that I did not know if it was severe or not and the front desk was VERY professional and offered me security and an ambulance if necessary. I really just needed directions to the nearest emergency room for diagnosis and they provided a printout of directions immediately. Fortunately, the situation was minor, but I very much appreciated their attention. The staff was actually concered for my well-being and that felt really nice.OK, this second point with the staff, and this simply amazed me. I set up a wakeup call on my last night (I had a very early flight). I woke up hours before my wakeup call and decided to gamble a bit (this is around 2am). I received a page in the casino, which I've never received before. I had no idea where to get the call and the security kindly explained where to go for the house phone. It was the front desk, paging me to ensure I'd received my wake-up call and to make sure I was okay. How COOL is THAT!?!? Kudos to YOU Gold Coast!!!If anyone from Gold Coast reads this, I'll gladly provide my name and stay information, because your team (front desk and security) deserves GREAT reviews!
