Conningbrook HotelI want to split this review into 2 elements, The Hotel and the CateringHotelWe stayed at the hotel over a long weekend to attend a family wedding. The hotel was fine, typical for a business of its type. There were some minor issues, the bath trim was badly fitted and the lighting in the bathroom was badly positioned and a little dim. The room was of a good size and clean, large enough to accommodate the 2 of us and our greyhound. The beds were comfortable if a little soft. The staff were efficient and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They also served a reasonable selection of Beers CateringI think Shepherd Neame Brewery, the owners, should have a serious look at this aspectOverall it was the worst catering we have come across, my particular complaints are:Kippers served on Marmalade?? on underdone toastInsipid smoked Haddock server with sloppily cooked poached eggsSausage and Bacon that looked and tasted like a supermarket budget rangeMushy peas are not garden peas mashed with a forkDoes everywhere in Ashford serve sandwiches for ladies, in the middle of the afternoon, made with thick sliced bread. We were very late for the Sunday Carvery but even so we were not impressed by blackened Roast potatoes and parsnips, soggy veg lying in half an inch of water. With average catering it may have been 4*. The Overall I would stay here again but would restrict my eating to continental breakfast and elsewhere in the evening

Staying for the second time - and will go back. Staff very friendly and helpful, even though I arrived very late. Room on ground floor this time, in annex, comfortable, good bathroom. Breakfast exceptionally good - only wish I'd had time to eat more! A good stopping place before the Chunnel (15-20 minutes away), at the end of a long drive south.

What a lovely Hotel. We had booked the Four Poster Room via booking.com only to find when we got there that it was already booked. However, Mark the deputy manager reduced the room rate and the room we did have was really lovely. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Room 41. The food in the Restaurant was very nice and breakfast was also very good. Lovely outlook from the Restaurant. Would definitely stay here again. All the staff were also very accommodating.

we stayed 1 night only and found the hotel very clean & tidy the staff were very proffessional friendly and welcoming our room was very quaint and cosy the bathroom had a corner bath & shower, it too was very clean. breakfast was great with a choice of various warm meals including smoked haddock/kippers/full english breakfast/continental breakfast. the building interior has old wooden beams typial of an old kentish building. loved it they see us again soon

This is the second time we have stayed here and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff are amazing; staff from other hotel chains should be sent here for customer service training! The food is stunning, both in the evening and at breakfast, the room (number 50) was large and very clean, lovely bathroom and fab shower. We only paid ¿¿50 BB through Booking.com but it would still be worth it at the full price. Considering it is basically a pub with rooms, it is really so much more. There are beautiful grounds at the rear, although it was a little cold to walk in them this time! Yes the floor boards are very creaky, but not sure what they can realistically do about that. We stayed here as we were visiting the Big Cat Sanctuary in Smarden but it would be an excellent choice for anyone catching the Eurostar. All in all an excellent stay and would definitely stay here again.
