5 Day Stay - Disappointed
I needed to stay in a midtown hotel near the offices I was planning on meeting over a 5 day period. In order to get to the check in desk, you need to carry your luggage up about 20 stairs. The check-in personnel was nice and handled my check-in well enough. However, upon arriving in the room, there was a distinct smell (like an old grandmother.) My colleagues confirmed that their rooms had the same smell. The room was small and every noise in the adjoining rooms and hallway was heard inside the room. The few times I ordered room service, the meal was brought in a timely fashion but the quality was sub-par and the food expensive. The workout facilities were slightly above average, but no water was available. I would not stay here again and I recommend finding another hotel.

Not too bad at all !
Great, if not near perfect location, right in the heart of Manhattan. The hotel is modern and inviting, the lobby is outstanding and I believe has been used in many movies (most recently The Dictator). Rooms are adequately sized, clean, and modern. Service is very good, but expected in New York. Probably more suited to a couple, rather than a family, but we still enjoyed ourselves immensely and the hotel was excellent to wind down in after a day yomping round New York. We would most definitely consider staying here again. Only complaint I have, the information book in the rooms need updating, or in the very least reviewing. We went to a diner which was recommended by the hotel, and unfortunately it was awful in every way.

Location Perfect
Depends on what you want from a trip, then you can state what to expect from such kind of hotel.I would not recommend it for business travel, the internet connection is pretty expensive, the room is quite noisy because of the air conditioner. However, if you are in Manhattan to walk, sightsee, visit then this is the place to go. The report price/location/room&hotel facilities is quite good. So, yes as a lot of people said before, the rooms are quite small. If you are an European you can relax, rooms in Venice, Paris, London are just some small boxes compared to this one. Two queen beds or one king can easily fit in the room and leave you just enough space to move around, but like I said, this is cool in case you get to the hotel, leave your luggage in the room, and head out on the avenues to visit NY.Parking is medium priced, but ok in comparison to other Manhattan parking facilities, its 50 $/24 hours (valet parking). Room was 8th floor, and you might think the noise outside might be tricky to fall asleep, but it didn't, was pretty tired from the walking though.

Better than Expected
Visited with a tour party from the UK.I had already read the pretty negative reviews on TA so I was already "on my guard". I had also done my research to find two nearby restaurants that appealed to me, which were; Arabesque at 4 East 36 Street and Keen's Steakhouse a little further on but actually at 72 West 36 Street, both are very good indeed. My room at the hotel was fine, just a little small, but plenty big enough for me and "housekeeping" were doing a good job. The food at breakfast was also good so no complaints there. I had nothing to complain about with the door staff either, so again top marks. Some of my companions had rather fractious encounters with the staff when retrieving their luggage from the storage area but other than that it was not bad at all. I must say that the lobby/lounge area is truly beautiful so please give it a try and see for yourself.

Don't trust the negative reviews!!
Me and my boyfriend arrived at The Roosevelt on Saturday 29th April for a 5 night stay after visiting Toronto and the Niagara Falls. I have to admit I was a little bit sceptical after reading several of the reviews on here but needn't have worried as the hotel was perfect and everything we could have hoped for!Upon arrival around 5pm we were seen to straight away by a friendly check in lady and assigned room number 1026 on the 10th floor. The room was cosy (it did say cosy in the description) with a Queen size bed, flat screen tv, bathroom and cupboard type wardrobe that also had a safe in there. The usual shower gel, shampoo etc was included but we did not use any of these items during our stay.My only gripe would be that there wasn't any flat spaces such as a desk or dressing table with drawers as we seemed to have our smaller items still in our luggage. This wasn't a huge problem but if the management got rid of the armchair then there would be space for this kind of furniture. The hotel is superbly placed in mid town east and blocks away from attractions such as the Grand Central Station, Empire State Building, Central Park and Times Square! We opted out of having breakfast at the hotel and chose a great deli place 2 blocks away on Madison Avenue called Petit Du Pains, amazing bagels and great coffee to set you up for the day and only for a few dollars! There was some traffic noise during the evening but come on this is NY and this is the city that never sleeps! I have been to NY 3 times now and even a 26th floor in the Crowne Plaza on Broadway couldn't keep all the noise out! You will get used to it and its better to just enjoy it because when you get back to your quiet home the silence can be deafening! I needed an NY soundtrack just to send me to sleep. Whilst staying at the hotel we used the services of the concierge, I cannot recall her name but she was very helpful and gave us lots of advice with regards to seeing a show on Broadway! We also visited the bar a couple of times, around $8 for a bottle of beer which may seem excessive but you are in a hotel and show me a hotel that doesn't charge excessive prices! There are lots of Irish type pubs/bars around the area so get out and find one!Overall I would be more than happy to stay at this hotel again, it had everything we needed and is in a great location to see the sights! I have always said that if you are going to NY you only need a hotel to sleep, there is a huge amazing city out there to be explored and if you feel as though you need to spend time in the room than out in the city then NY isn't the place for you!Oh and before I forget make sure you download the Roosevelt Hotel app from iTunes (not sure about Android or others) because if you show this upon checking in then you get free wifi for the duration of your stay! Much better than spending $15 a day and ideal for us Brits to keep in touch with things back home!
