Clean, but a little cramped.
It wasn't a terrible experience but probably wouldn't stay there again. It is easy access from and to almost anywhere in Tokyo as it is situated about 100m away from Kiba subway (EXIT 4B!!). It was a bit frustrating to have our luggage left in the lobby while our capsule was on the 5th floor. It meant that if you wanted to access anything from your bags you had to take an elevator and then open your bag in the lobby. There is a small locker issued with every capsule but it was only large enough to accommodate a small, hand luggage size backpack. The double capsule was very clean but did get a little cramped for two European bodies. It was pot-luck as to whether people were quiet around you. If they weren't whispering you could hear everything. We stayed here as it was cheap and Tokyo is expensive and probably wouldn't deter people from this hotel if they were on a similar budget. Bathroom facilities are OK but communal. Loads of complimentary toiletries but still a little strange unless you're used to communal showers. The men's facilities are much bigger and better than the women's possibly due to the popularity of the hotel with salarymen.

Cozy capsule
I stayed one night at this hotel, because I wanted to try the famous capsule-system. Many capsule hotels host men only, and because I am a woman there are not so many choices. I am happy about having visited Tokyo Kiba Hotel. I had a very good night sleeping in a single capsule, located in lower row. The capsules only have a curtain to close, no door. At no point was there any disturbance from other guests. Everybody was so careful and quiet when arriving or leaving. There were capsules in two rows, and people sleeping in the upper ones need to climb a little ladder. The breakfast was more like a simple "continental breakfast", not japanese real breakfast. The staff was very clever and helpful. However there was a small disadvantage at this accomodation, but if being prepared for this it should not be a problem. The thing is that your locker box will be on a different floor from where you sleep. And so will the bathroom, which by the way is extremely well equipped with products and diverse grooming devices. Tokyo Kiba Hotel has a proper swimming pool for men, but for women the have only a normal jacuzzi or bubble-bath. There is a lift in Tokyo Kiba Hotel.

Excellant!
Really enjoyed the experience! We had a capsule with a semi-double bed and thought the space was plenty for us. The receptionist was very helpful and spoke perfect English. Once we checked in she showed us to our lockers but as we had rucksacks they were not large enough to fit, so we left them on a luggage rack infront of the reception. We were given pjs, slippers and towels.Everything was very clean. The bathroom on our floor was for both men and women and everything was extremely clean. The main bathrooms that have the showers are not mixed. Very clean with everything you could need. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and really nice face creams. The showers are not separated by anything so you may feel a little self conscious but I was luck there was no other ladies there. They also have washing machines, driers and a very hot jacuzzi. The toilets are those that project water which is also and interesting experience!!We slept very well with no problems, the corridors were very quiet.Very close to one of the exits from the tube. There is a very large supermarket infront of the hotel.

Great for solo travlers and sleeping off jetlag
Perfect if you plan to use your accommodations for just sleeping and cleaning up...hey, you are in Tokyo, get out and enjoy it! It is a good bargain for a solo traveler or for two that will share a capsule at about $65 USD a night. If you are traveling with more people or do not want to share, there are several options in Tokyo where you can pay ~$120 for a real room (Ueno Touganey is awesome and has free wireless). This place is not for the traveler who likes to sleep in and just chill out because there are not a lot really comfortable places to relax and hang out and talk to other travelers. There is a lounge with free water but that is about it. The shower facilities are also closed from 10AM to 2PM so you do not have a lot of freedom to just float in when you want. Just as others have said, you must leave any large bags in the front and there is a small (~16x12x10 inches) locker for valuables. Some have mentioned that they did not feel secure leaving there stuff but I did. I typically do not travel with valuables that I can't carry on my person anyway.Capsules are clean. Very clean. There are no locking doors, just a fabric curtain that is pulled down. This is not a place for light sleepers, you will hear everything going on around you. I had the unfortunate experience of visiting at the same time as a two loud couples who found out they were from the same country and thought it would be an awesome idea to give each other a blow by blow of their travel capers in the capsule common area. All it took was a me popping my head out and shooting an evil glare their direction for them to shut up though...I can only speak for the ladies room, but the separate sex showers are communal. However, since this is mostly a tourist hotel with a lot of westerners, I found that most people would wait for the person before them to finish before entering the shower/bath room. I stayed for two days, took three showers and never shared with anybody. There is a counter with four of five little vanity spots for makeup/hair and there is a washer AND dryer in the room.No free WiFi but this is common in Japan.Decent neighborhood, steps to Kiba Station along the Tozai line, and several 7&i and Lawson Station locations for your ATM and fun Japanese beverage and snack needs.

Interesting for one night but prepare not to sleep.
Booked this for my wife and I as it was one of the cheapest options in Tokyo and we figured it would be a fun experience. After staying there I think it should be a lot cheaper. We stayed 2 nights. I would recommend only staying 1 if you really want the experience, but try to avoid if you can. The owner shows you how the place works when you get there and one my biggest problem with the place is that there is no wifi! I am sorry, but there is no excuse not to have wifi. She tried to say that Japanese wifi would not work with a foreign iphone or ipad which is a complete lie.Seperate bathrooms for men and women with sauna and communal showers. They were clean but by no means immaculate. Especially considering that they close them everyday from 10am-2pm to clean them. So if you are staying more than 1 day and sleep past 10 you can't shower until after 2.My biggest issue is the capsule itself. Part of it is that I wasn't really prepared for the whole experience. The other is that there are no doors on the capsule, only a sort of curtain thing which does nothing to block out sound. First night the place was packed so every time people laughed or clambered around in their capsule you heard it. The 2nd night was the worst though. It was quiet and there were plenty of empty capsules on our floor. We went to sleep and at 3am we woke up because another capsules alarm was going off. I waited for the person to turn it off and nothing....just kept beeping and beeping for 10 minutes! Finally I got out of our capsule to give this person hell and give them a different alarm only to find that it was coming from a vacant capsule! I don't know whose fault this is but it is frustrating none the less. I had to climb up and into a capsule down the hall and turn off the alarm myself. The cleaning staff I guess could check and make sure the alarm in the capsules are't set when they change the sheets. Just a thought. You also have to keep your luggage in the lobby the whole time as there is no room in the capsule and it is a fire hazard to keep it in the hall outside the capsule. They give you a small locker to put important things in but the locker is tiny and then when you lock it you have to give the key to reception, huh? We walked in to different people at reception all the time and just said our capsule number and they gave us our key no questions asked. Really could have been anyone saying any number. Needless to say we never left any valuables in the locker.
