Gateway to relax :)
Stayed here for 3 nights in a 1 bdr App . upon check in staff where very friendly & very helpful , a fast & easy check in . Good off street car parking with easy access to lifts . Room was a good size & had a great view over the city . Very clean & well set out though no tv in bedroom but plenty of good cable channels . Gym & pool where good also . The deck outside my roolm was of good size with a good view . Close to Bars & Resturants & city . I enjoyed my stay & left feelinf relaxed .

Great location but could do with a spruce up
We recently stayed overnight in a two bedroom apartment. While the views were fabulous, the apartment could certainly have done with a good clean and paint. Hairs in both showers, grubby cutlery and crockery, and ash still in the ashtray on the deck really put us off although the apartment was quiet and otherwise comfortable. Pool was gorgeous and the gym was well equipped. Some of the front desk staff were cheerful and happy while others were very blunt and not welcomin. This place is a real mixed bag. Not sure if I would stay here again.

Disappointing
Although this hotel is located in a convenient area for restaurants and bars there were some incidents that left us underwhelmed. Unfortunately we booked into this hotel when there was a music festival the same weekend. The hotel was filled with teenagers looking to party all weekend. We were on the bottom floor and had various rubbish (cigarette butts, bottles, cans, water, ice) thrown down onto our outside area from balconies above, we complained to the staff but they said they couldn't do anything about it and that it happens frequently. Another guest on the same floor as ours was actually spewed on from the balcony above. Thankfully the persons responsible were evicted. Housekeeping was a little lax as well, the room was very dusty and our bed was not made one morning. Guest are required to sign a No party no excessive alcohol agreement on registering but I think there could have been a stricter observance of what was going on in the hotel.

Only place I'll stay in Townsville
used to live in Townsville, so I know what other hotels are like and after staying here, whenever I go back to Townsville, I won't be staying anywhere else. I don't know what other reviewers are on about, the staff were seriously some of the best I've seen. The front desk girls were friendly, helpful and always said 'Hi' as we went past and the cleaners came at lunchtime each day to tidy up and make the beds (which we didn't expect, as other apartments we have stayed in weren't serviced daily). The unit (2 bedroom) was HUGE and we agreed we could quite easily live in it full time. We got a room on the back of the building and at first we were disappointed not to have a view of Flinders Street, but the view was still pretty good and the room probably quieter. The pool was great and so is the location. Palmer Street is the main restaurant strip in the CBD, so you can't get any closer to food (but as others have said, not everything is open on a Sunday) and the bars and clubs are a 5 minute walk across the bridge. If you want to hang around the Strand (beach) during the day, then maybe not an ideal spot, as its a 30min walk, but that's about the only downside.This place is awesome value for money and I cant recommend it enough.

Couldn't ask for better
We got a hotel apartment here for the weekend. We found the room, clean, amply furnished with a great view. A special mention should go to Kara who checked us in. She was friendly, thorough with her check in information ensuring we had no questions to ask at the end, it was really impressive and refreshing and welcoming! Oaks is in a great location with restaurants, museums, tourist attractions and The Strand within walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay there and will definitely stay there again
