Catching up on well overdue reviews that I just keep meaning to write. Stayed in Yun's for 3 nights before moving onto Hangzhou. Did not have great expectations due to a few poor reviews but we took a chance as it seemed convenient and within our budget, it also had breakfast included which most hotels did not offer - we like our brekkie and didn't want the hassle of heading out first morning in Shanghai searching for a bite to eat. Anyway, checkin was helpful and professional. Room was more than adequate - okay furnishings might need a revamp but it was fine for us. AC had the room at a nice temperature and we were able to get over our jetlag having flown from Dublin and travelling nearly 24 hours. We had a room that looked out at a type of courtyard...just be aware that rooms across from you can seen into your room if have lights on and curtains open. We had a fine view of a very large woman's posterior one evening much to our amusement but I can imagine she would have been mortified had she realised.Breakfast was an interesting affair, generous buffet with lots of chinese options which we loved trying out. You can also just resort to your safe coffee, toast and fried egg if that's what you want.There was usually one member of staff on reception with good English so we asked for advice on how to book train ticket for Hangzhou and they guided is in the direction of the ticket office. Overall we enjoyed our stay here, Shanghai will always have happy memories for us as we got engaged on our second day there.

This hotel is situated on a central area with subway only 10 minutes away. The lobby bar has a quiet, roomy and sunny place for you to enjoy either the breakfast or afternoon tea/coffee. However, the size of the standard room is a bit smaller than the usual in comparing the average 4* hotel in China. The hotel staffs are helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We'd recommend it to our friends.

We were really impressed with this hotel especially considering the price. A lovely modern hotel with a very comfortable room, this was certainly our most comfortable bed in China.The breakfast is good too, a great mix of Chinese and Western food to choose from.The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Shanghai, it's near the old city and yu gardens (5 min walk) and close to other areas. Taxis are so cheap and the hotel will get a cab for you, we didn't pay any more than 2pounds for a cab and we travelled all over the city.

I normally prefer 5 start hotel but now the point was focus purely to shopping and relaxing beside save in hotel fee. From airport the easiest way to reach the hotel is to take taxi. Hotel is providing service but it is somewhat more expensive than regular taxi. We took driver service back from hotel to airport (320 RMB) and I can say it was worth of money as driver was driving very peaceful and car was convinient. Hotel was more 3 star than 4 star. Quality against hotel fee was reasonable. Family room was big and surprisingly I agree with others that beds were quite hard but not that hard we couldn¿¿¿t sleep after whole day shopping. Breakfast was included and even it was not any 5 start breakfast, we were still happy it was included in the price and there was something to eat before going out. There wasn¿¿¿t any food markets near but Tesco was announced to be opened soon opposite side shopping mall of the road hotel located. We didn¿¿¿t eat in hotel restaurant and after while understood, food is better to be purchased before coming back to hotel. Prices in hotel lobby and in health center were quite high but normal compairing world wide. Hotel stuff was handling basic English. Note! You have to pay 500 RMB cash deposit before signing in into hotel. Hotel has a little gym. Other running machine was a little bit broken ans room was cold but after while training, climate was okay. Other advantage is that you can do withdrawal just outside of hotel savely. Sub way was about 600 meters from hotel. Stop Yuyu garden. When leaving from hotel front doors, just turn left and walk 600 meters left side of the road. Subway stop will come to your leftside. By taking line 10, you can go to people square, the heard of Shanghai. Price is 4 RMB 12/2012 one way.For shopaholic, there is nice little shopping center just opposite of subway Yu Yu garden stop. Shopping center is back side of Renaissance hotel. It is forth of going if you like shopping and not time to go to city center. We got what we paid, for this less money, hotel and location was just what was promised in booking sites. Good hint was to take Tuesday flight to China and back. Plane was half booked only so traveling 10 hours was quite nice in the plane.

Overall a good experience. The quality of the bed was not very good. Like sleeping on a board. No clock in room either. Very nice modern bathroom. Clean with a well stocked fridge and snacks. Very good breakfast buffet as well. Some U.S. English TV as well. Very nice outside appearance. Excellent doormen and cook staff. Front desk somewhat weak on English. Nice location for walking distance to shopping and sightseeing.
