Family run business at it's finest!
We only stayed 1 night at the end of our travels in the South Island but we couldn't of been more impressed. The rooms were lovely all kinds of little surprises heated towel rack, jet tub, complimentary cookies. On top of that Jeff was amazing taking the time to layout the city and give us recommendations on what to see. You can tell he is proud of his City and he is a great ambassador. We will definitely return next time we find ourselves on this side of the world.

Friendly, Comfortable, Great Location.
We arrived very late near midnite but the motel owner had arranged a cab for us with our room keys. Upon arrival our rooms were the lighted room and the room were just warmth. It's freaking cold but lovely warm in the room. We had a good rest and started early to wonders about Christchurch ..everything was very well informed either by flyer in the room or personally informed by Jeff the owner/ manager. We walked and walked and it was a very rare experience seeing on hand earthquake after effect city and listening to some local residents of the in incident. In all this motel is located central to all and all you need is just your own enthusiast and adventurous mind and willingness. Before I forget the room is fitted with all the electronic gadget of a home..from kitchen to living room. Restful bed with electric blanket. U name it they got it.

Great stay!
The first kiwis I really spoke to were the managers of this motel and they made a great impression for the rest of the country. Very nice and very helpful more importantly! This motel was very clean, comfortable and budget friendly. I would go back!

Perfect location, knowledgeable and friendly owners
Stayed from 20 May - 24 May, 2013 in NZ's late autumn/early winter. The location of the CentrePoint on Colombo is a perfect base for exploring Christchurch and the surrounding Canterbury region, for both business and leisure travellers. Jeff and Naomi Peters, the owners/managers, are very knowledgeable and helpful. They provide guests with a list of recommended restaurants (even down to copies of some of the menus in the room resource book, and the distance from the motel!). Their recommendations were spot on. On one of the Christchurch CBD maps, Jeff drew the boundaries of the Red Zone rebuild areas, to help us navigate the ever-changing pathways through the reconstruction zones. He also pointed out nearby (one block away) urgent care services (I forgot my prescription meds at home...) and massage places where we booked ourselves much-needed massages. Naomi helped guide us to the bus stops to/from the Gondola (which are right in front of the motel, very convenient!). Would also recommend that you book your shuttle from/to the airport via Jeff and Naomi as they can get a discount rate ($24 for two people!) through a local service. We stayed in the one bedroom studio apt on the second floor which had a good-sized living room/kitchenette/dining area. Forgot to take photos, but the photos on Trip Advisor are all very accurate. The queen and twin beds were on the mezzanine level with a large window overlooking the parking lot/hills, so it was easy to determine the weather conditions for each morning by looking out the window. They carry an extensive DVD collection with several NZ films along with other popular titles. The onsite laundry was very convenient, just down the stairs from our room, at $2 per load. Can't say enough about how helpful Jeff and Naomi are as owner/managers. They and their property are deserving of the high ratings and comments you find here on TripAdvisor. The former reviews helped us decide to book our lodging there and we were more than pleased that fellow TripAdvisors were spot on with their recommendations and positive reviews. Highly recommend. Also recommend Himalayas Restaurant, one block from the motel.

Just what you need in a motel - friendly helpful staff and clean warm room
Stayed here for a night (May 2013) with hubby and found it more than adequate in meeting our needs.The room had all we needed and was warm for the cold night we were there. The highlight was the welcome cookie which found me buying more at the end of our NZ trip to bring home!Actually, the true highlight and reason we'd come back is the friendly, helpful and informative owner, Jeff. Thank you so much for your help with working out our drive the next day (unexpected snow came!) and the options for brekkie and food around town. Also the info on the red zone and understanding the true impact of the earthquake on Christchurch.Definately come and stay here again in the next 5 years and see how Christchurch rebuilds.Thanks again!
