Lots of food in the neighbourhood
The hotel is right beside a mall, Watson, 7/11, Costa and many restuarants. It seems to me that this place is full of Koreans.The staffs at the reception do speak some English.There is a bus stop 200 metres away which is very convenient if you know the bus lines, unfortunately, there is no subway in a walking distance (15 minutes walk, if you prefer).The hotel is quite compact. It seems like the air conditioning is used as a heating system despite the fact that there is a cool sign on the controller. The only tv channels that I can understand are CNN and HBO.This place also offers the laundry machine and dryer which you have to buy a specific coin (15 yuan) at the reception.

Best thing was the croissant from next door
Ok, so first off, this hotel is in the middle of nowhere. There are no metro stops nearby. Although (I heard) it's walking distance from the 798 Art district and physically closer to the airport than some other hotels. But unless you have business nearby, there's really no reason to stay here. Even the Airport is more convenient from other parts of the city, because there's no transport, unlike a hotel near the Dongzhimen transport hub, for example. The only reason I did stay here, was that a tour I was going on switched the hotel at the last minute from the HI Express Donghzimen. Comparing the two properties, I can tell you this one is inferior in every way. Harder beds -not Chinese rock hard, but American firm (so not so bad); worse breakfast (though still enough to keep you full); much more inconvenient; only 2 computers in the lobby for internet use, rather than 6 like in Dongzhimen (but at least they're there). So not terrible by any means, but there are better choices. If you're inclined to stay in a Holiday Inn Express to begin with, I wouldn't choose this one. The one thing I will say about this place, is that there is an *amazing* bakery next door, around the corner from the entrance. I just had breakfast, but I saw the croissants inside, and they looked really, really good. Sometimes you can just tell by looking. Real, western style croissants. I ordered a chocolate croissant, even though I was already full, and wow... I didn't regret it. I meant to have one bite, and save the rest for later, but this was the kind of croissant one doesn't save for later. Perfectly crispy on the outside, moist and chewy inside... this ranked with the best chocolate croissants I have had anywhere! Naturally I devoured it on the spot. Of course this has nothing to do with the hotel, except that it's right there adjacent to the place, and I would never in a million years have gone to this bakery in the middle of a nondescript residential/business corner of Beijing, had I not had to stay overnight here.

A convenient and excellent hotel in Beijing
If you are looking for a hotel close to the Beijing capital airport and you have an early flight in the morning next day, this holiday inn express is the place to be.Don't expect anything luxury but a decent place to sleep. Free Internet wifi, friendly reception, CLEAN rooms is what you will find at a reasonable price. If you want something more, at 50 m there is a holiday inn hotel but considering the above, I will still use the express version.Ther are several shops around, a shopping mall and for a quick check is good to have a look.Things to improve: standard breakfast is sufficient, I would suggest to offer some simple food for busy traveller arriving late night.

Holiday Inn Express Hotels in Beijing Not Up To Standard
I have stayed in numerous Holiday Inn/Crown Plaza (not Express) properties in Beijing over the years. Most are excellent hotels and great value. Unless I am mistaken, the Holiday Inn Express hotels are a more recent phenomenon. I am not impressed. The Wangjing is no exception. No soap in dispenser. Sofa and chair not very clean. Water leak and damp/moldy smell in the hallway (they were trying to soak up the water with old bed sheets). Desk light not working. While price is low and one would expect minimal extra and luxuries, there is no excuse for a Holiday Inn franchised hotel to give the impression of being a little run down.Otherwise, everything else is OK. Limited breakfast very Chinese, as expected but adequate. Rooms OK. Not super clean but not filthy, either. Location fine if you want to be near the airport or that side of Beijing. Taxies are not easy to get and don¿¿¿t want to use their meter.One word of wisdom: If you are not completely satisfied with your stay at this hotel, just remember one thing. You are not paying a whole lot of money to stay there. I applied the logic to myself on this stay and it worked!

Close to the airport, perfect for a business - stay
I spent there one night during a business - trip. The hotel is around 20 - 30 minutes (depends on the traffic) away from the airport. Not even 5 minutes walk away, you could find big company - buildings e.g. Mercedes Benz.Also just 5 Minutes walk you have Supermarkets, FastFood, Chinese Restaurants and other Western Style Food.The room was big enough, clean and warm (during -10 degrees outside, it is very important).You have free internet access in all the rooms.All in All a nice stay.
