Great Stay On Club Level
My new wife and I spend a few nights here last week just after our wedding. We stayed on the club level and were very impressed with the service and amenities. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and spoke great English. Our sweet was perfect and the club level lounge was amazing - they had breakfast, afternoon tea, and a happy hour / dinner. Free drinks (water, soda, beer, wine, some liquors) all day long. It is a great location if you are trying to get to the airport and there are 2 subway stations very close as well.

A short stay
We had to find a room near the airport for the 10-hour layover at Beijing International. Used our Priority Club free room certificate for the year but still had to pay an extra 400+RMB for the 3rd person in the room plus service fees. Our plane from Kunming arrived later than expected 8:30pm and we had to collect all our bags from baggage claim because they couldn't check them through to LAX. What a pain! Fortunately, the shuttle from Crowne Plaza was already waiting and the driver was helpful in getting the bags onto the van. (We called to make arrangements when we passed through Beijing on our way to Kunming 10 days before.) It was at least a 10-minute ride to the hotel, not very close to the airport. At check-in we were told that the 3rd bed was already setup but later found out that it was not. Had to call and get the bed and extra towels etc. When everything settled it was past 11pm and we had to get up early for the 6am shuttle back to the airport. Room was fine with a big shower stall and plenty of amenities. We were upgraded, as told, but couldn't tell the difference. As platinum Priority Club members we received a fruit plate which we did not have time to enjoy, free inroom wi-fi, and other services not applicable to our short stay there. The young man at the check-in counter was most courteous and he was the one checking us out in the morning also. He also made arrangements for the wake-up call and the ride back to the airport. It would have been nice to have breakfast included but even with the extra room charge breakfast was not offered. Good thing we were able to use the Air China lounge after checking in at the airport. Will I stay here again? Probably not. I doubt that we will be just transiting here again. There are hotels closer to the airport than Crowne Plaza (Hilton and Landham) and at that hour, every minute counts.

Stay during exhibition
The location of the hottel is perfect if one has to attend an exhibition. The exhibition center is in 10-15 minutes walking distance and also a nearby shopping center (europlaza) makes it a good place to stay for business. additionally the 10 minutes drive distance to the airport is also w big plus.The hotel itself is good. The rooms are clean and spacious enough. The breakfast buffet is good and the staff is friendly. The only thing I did not like that much is, that internet access in the room costs extra although the in the lobby and in the bar at the ground floor there is free WIFI available.I would surely book the hotel again if I have to attend an exhibition in Beijing.

Avoid unless you have to stay here
I was stranded here because of a cancelled flight. Will not come back unless forced toThe room has a un-tight window. Internet in the room expensive, in the lobby unusable as it is very slow. Food is poor. The warm food is cold and the cold is warm. My impression is that they live of passengers stranded due to cancelled flights. In my room the minibar was locked. Why would you do that in a normal hotel? Never had that in China.

Slowly adopting (poorer) local, not intl standards
I have been coming here for over 5 years. The building and rooms remain good. However it seems the hotel has a problem retaining staff, which is normally a bad sign. I try not to eat here anymore, esp since there are plenty of good international options a 10min walk up the road. Really the breakfast has gone from good to bad. Egg station always left unattended. Danish cream pastries being left under a hot lamp. Flies on the fruit (previous visit, not this one). Food run out and not restocked 30min before breakfast ends (ie no fresh bread, bacon, or eggs). Really a sad state of affairs. If anyone from Crowne Plaza management reads this, PLEASE can you take a hard look at what is going on here. This was such a good hotel before. Perhaps all the good staff (and service) have gone to the airport Hilton or the Langham?
