Does not respond to special requests. But why?!
Stayed over one night to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. Requested for a simple 'happy birthday' sign to be put up inside my veranda studio but nothing was done. I could've asked for a cake and a dozen balloons! Very disappointed... Aircon was not cold all day so I spoke to front desk about it. Again, nothing was done.BUT WHY?! Is this the Singapore standard of service? That's my burning question.

Great location, beautiful gardens, hotel a complete let down
I stayed in this hotel Mon-Fri for 4 weeks in April 2013.Positives -It is in a great location, a few minutes walk to the beach or in to Sentosa, the hotel is set in nice maintained gardens.Negatives -Walking from the receiption to the lifts the floor is tiled and when it rains, these become dangerously slippery, theyhave put a matt on a part of it but not the beginning which makes it very difficult not to slip.Breakfast starts at 07:00am which is quite late, I only had breakfast there 2 times as had to leave normally at 06:30am, both times i was there at 07:00am and they were not ready, only half the food was out, i asked for 2 fried eggs and they where undercooked by a few minutes and the rest of the food was below par, not worth the SGD28 extra, i dont think their Chefs have any training as the cannot cook the simplest of things like an egg.Due to the fact i had to leave early and had paid the extra SGD 28 per day for breakfast, i asked can they maybe make me something each morning to take away with me, the response from the check in girl was you can order room service.The lifts go to the 2nd floor everytime, so you have to constantly wait for the lifts, most lifts stay at the floor they stop at or go to 1st but not in this hotel. When i made my reservation i asked if it was ok to leave my hire car in their car park on the weeekends when i was not there, they said yes no problem, then when i checked in i asked do you want my car registration they said no they do not need it, they then put a sign on my car saying it is illegally parked and will be towed, spoke to a Supervisor about this and not even an appology was given. I found the customer service that was given from the check-in staff to be very poor, no smile, no polite conversation, i had stayed there 4 weeks and there was no welcome back, they seriously need to look at training their staff or getting some new ones with motivation.I stayed in 3 different rooms and they all seem to vary, some have larger beds, some have larger and newer tv's. One of the rooms i stayed in had a lot of flies in the bathroom, the towels were not always replaced. The last room 423 was the best room out of the 3 with a Seaview and a small balcony but no chairs or table on the balcony to sit on.Am suprised this hotel was awarded 4 stars, would say 2 star, 3 at best. I would not recommend to friends or collegues to stay at this hotel.

Still ok, but abit too noisy.
I made a reservation with the hotel for a 3D2N staycation to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Reading from previous reviews that the hotel does make special arrangement on birthdays, therefore I requested for a cake to send to the room and the hotel was happy to do so, it was very nice of them. :) Saw a few coffee stain on the floor of my room, but that didn't really bother me too much. There was no bathroom mat, but I was fine without it as well. However, the door does look abit strange. There was a huge gap between the door and the floor and I think it was big enough to put my feet through. The premier room that I had was huge and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. There wasnt much TV channel choices, no HBO or other English channels. My room was just next to the pool but it was always occupied with people and the water looked kind of dirty, so we didnt go for a dip. The room service that I ordered- cord fish fillet was yummy and portion was big. Breakfast choice was quite good too. Overall the stay is still ok.

Poor treatment of locals, shameful
My friends and I have been to the Amara Sanctuary to celebrate special occasions since 2011. Heck, my friend even held his wedding ceremony there. We have never had any trouble and always enjoyed our stay and the facilities. However, last night was an absolute PR disaster for Amara Sanctuary. Firstly, I was not allowed to park my car in the carpark after 7 pm. I was told rudely that this is a "STANDING ORDER" and if I want to see my friends who were guests, I had to meet them in the lobby. WHAT???!!! To add to that, the security guards came by EVERY HOUR to shush us and demand that only 2 people were allowed in the room. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and there were young children and families around too. A perfectly happy occasion marred by ridiculous rules. We were forced to whisper to each other, we were not allowed in the pool, and the guards were even glaring at the little kids whenever they spoke. Is this the way to treat paying guests? Or is this Amara's 'standing order' and policy of how they treat locals having a staycation for their friends and family? This has completely gone down the ratings in my view. Absolutely distasteful, shameful and disgraceful. My friends have always been booking this place for staycations and spending nothing short of a bomb whenever they stay there, but you can bet your bottom dollar none of us will ever spend a dime in this place again. Shameful, shameful, shameful. All tourists should know this. Beneath the veneer of rustic serenity, lies the shameful and crass arrogance and mistreatment of guests, especially when these are local guests. Thanks for the memories, Amara!

Looking like 4 stars but being in 2 in reality... Disappointed...
Came for 1 night with my son to enjoy 2 days of fun on Sentosa Island.At the arrival in the lobby, the first impression was good (clean entrance, good location, a lot of plants & flowers around). People at the check-in are friendly, concierge too. 1st negative point : room not 100% ready when we wanted to came in (can happen).2nd negative point : I have been told that the hotel is 5 years old only. The room is really not well maintained. Even dirty !!! Mold in bathroom. Stains on carpet, chair, sofa, pillow....3rd negative point : roof top swimming pool. Nice view. Very very bad maintenance. Old lounge chairs. No changing room. Lack of towels.4th negative point : We checked out at 10 am as we had to enjoy our last day in Sentosa. Our flight being late at night, we came back at 6 00 pm to enjoy a bit the pool. When I asked if there is a place where we can take a shower and change our clothes, the reception told us to use the shower at the roof top pool. When we saw the place (dirty bathroom where is toilet & a shower with only cold water), I asked the manager if there was not a room dedicated to the customers who have to refresh. he said there was only the "facility" on roof top pool. I asked if there was another place like at the fitness. He said no shower was available there. I insisted if we could get a room access for 30 minutes just to use the bath room. Reply : "sorry Sir we can only offer you rooftop pool shower". So I took my suitcase to the pool. Had shower with my son in front of other guests who were wondering what are we doing here with our suitcase. Nice....
