Wonderful hotel!
Wonderful hotel. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel because of several reasons: Beds were clean and comfortable, our room was charming and spacious, the breakfast was great, the staffs were attentive and friendly, we also like the location too, close to the old quarter but hide away from the crowded area. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great location but could be much better
We stayed here for two nights in March. We were planning a few days in Hoi An and wanted to stay somewhere in town for a couple of nights and then move to somewhere closer to the beach for a couple of days. We got off to a bit of bad start - I had seen the pictures of the 'suites' and thought I would spend the little bit more and book one of those. When we arrived, the room we were taken to looked nothing like the pictures and was just a regular double room with pretty average decor. We refused the room and went down to reception where I was assured that this was a suite. I did not accept this and asked the receptionist to log on to the hotel website - she did this and I pointed out the type of room I had booked (backed up by the print out I had) and the pictures on the website. She told me the room was not available and so I insisted that they would have to reduce the price for the room they had offered me, which she refused. There then followed a long period of silence and not much happening before suddenly a key being produced and being taken to our room - which was a suite! It was worth standing my ground because I must say that the room, once we were in it was really lovely - high ceilings, a very nice bathroom, large bed and a balcony looking over the fields. After the awkward start, we did enjoy our stay there - the location is really good. Easy walking distance in to the old town and the location is a bit quieter than other hotel locations, from what we could see. Breakfast was fine each day and the pool area and sun deck are a nice place to chill out when it's hot. Looking out over the fields over breakfast was also very pleasant. This place is fine but could be much better if they put a bit more effort into attention to detail. I would say that if you book a suite room, it is value for money but make you get the room you pay for! I still don't know why they tried to give us an inferior room but after the slight altercation, the staff were very pleasant to us.

Bit Tired but ok
We only had one night here - as part of or Intrepid Tour - prior to going to Halong Bay. The breakfast had enough variety to feed all in our group. My room faced the road - room 301 - which was a little noisy from 4am when the horns started again. As mentioned by other travellers showering can be a challenge with water all over the place. The dark timber is tired along with other fittings. The air conditioner in my room worked but for others this was a major problem - causing them to have a poor night's sleep. No wifi in my room?? Wouldn't rush back.

Awful
No soundproofing whatsoever so sleep quality is awful - especially the rooms facing the road but there is no double glazing and not much insulation between rooms. My shower head was held together by a plaster/band aid and squirted everywhere. It was dark and dingy and the beds depend on the room as I stayed in two. The worst part though were the reception staff who spoke next to no English which resulted in my mum not receiving a wakeup call that she had booked for 5am for an early morning flight and is particularly unforgiveable given that this is a tour group hotel. Definitely find somewhere else!

Sky bar closed now luggage store
Stopped here for several nights at the beginning of an Exodus tour of Vietnam. The hotel is situated on a quieter road near to the old town, althought you wouldn't think that on first arrival, the moped traffic in Hanoi is mental beyond belief!Rooms were well appointed with hard (normal for Vietnam) but comfortable beds. We had rooms on the side of the hotel and street noise was not a problem. Some of our party had rooms on the front and asked to be moved after the first night. Our only issue with noise was the fact that our first room was on the top floor. The sky bar is currently closed, probably due to an irish bar opening in the basement. The porters tend to store luggage in the closed sky bar and insist on starting to move it at 5am. this is very noisey and woke us on 2 consecutive mornings.Breakfast is the usual continental with a vietnamese twist but you can go back for as much as you like. the omlet man was very good and cooked to order. Coffee is interesting......Desk staff were efficient but stressed on occasion, especially when 50 French tourists turn up all demanding keys.Therfe are a couple of computers for surfing in the foya, but privacy is nill There is no bar at this hotel. as previously mentioned you have to use the new Irish in the basement. This is not part of the hotel and prices are steep. Staff training was underway whilst we were there and it was quite entertaining watching new waiters trying to get to grips with plates and utensils.Watch out for health and safety in Vietnam. the Vietnamese are generally short and bannisters tend to be low. Even at just 5'8" I felt a bit uneasy on the stairs. Not a luxury hotel but OK for a couple of nights. Great walking access to the old town and attractions.
