Top Hotel
This is a very good, top-notch Hotel, located closer to the London-Eye, Aquarium, etc. In my opinion this is one of the best place to stay for business or a weekender tourist activity in London.I've stayed here few times and overall i'll say a good Hotel, although the Hotel is expensive as with most Hotels in London.

We had a great experience here
The reviews on TA sometimes are a bit mixed on this property. Particularly in terms of service. Our experience was very positive overall. The first night we were not in a room with a view which I had requested 11 months ago as a platinum member. However one of the front desk personnel Moiz ensured that we were moved to a room with a view our second night. And what a view it was. It was also a very large room. We had a sofa and two chairs in addition to two double beds. Contrary to other reviews we did not find the executive lounge to be dark or unwelcoming. True there were no windows but the lighting was great. And the hosts were very attentive And the menu included eggs as well as a meat each morning. More than a continental breakfast.. We only went to the concierge one time and found a good delightful man from the Madieras islands who not only answered our questions but did it with a bit of flair and character. As everyone says the location simply cannot be beat. Less than 10 minutes to Waterloo station or to Westminster. A very positive experience for a girls trip to London.

Great location, excellent service
stayed for a week in May. I had contacted the hotel a few weeks earlier to ask for a room with a view. i sent an email address to the only email I could find via Google...and a few days later, I got a call at home from the delightful head of guest services, Teddi Jackson, who advised me that they were very, very full for our stay, but they would do their best. And they did. We had a correct room overlooking the Thames and the Eye. All of the hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. A special shout-out to the lovely doormen who helped get me and my wheelchair up the 12 steps to the front entrance. Kudos also to Jaume the excellent bartender who whipped up custom Gin cocktails.The room was fine...a classic Marriott room. good bed - - very comfy with great choice of pillows. Regular bathroom with good counter space. Air conditioning was a bit noisy, but worked very well. We ate once in the restaurant. Good, but not great, meal, and some issues in the kitchen with timing. You cannot beat the location - - you can walk ( or roll!) anywhere from the hotel: the theatre district, Westminster, Trafalgar, and of course you have the great SouthBank area to explore, with the Tate Modern, the national theatre, the Borough Market and a super walkway along the Thames.I think this is a great choice for anyone planning to visit London.

Fantastic location but poor customer service
Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of May 2013. Arrived at the hotel at 2pm only to be told room was not ready and to return after 3pm. Was fine so went for walk along the South Bank. Came back at 3.30pm and room was still not ready. Was told to go to the bar to have a free drink which we did. Reception staff did not come and tell us that room was ready so at 4.30pm we went back to reception only to be told that room was still not ready. No apologies and all they did was phone housekeeping who said they were checking the room which took a further 20 minutes. Asked for something for the inconvenience and they reluctantly gave us breakfast for 1 night which we were then charged at breakfast and also invoiced for at the end of our stay. Completely unacceptable and I would say the reception staff were incompetent. The location was fantastic but the room was slightly dated and could do with being re-furbished.

The view is the only benefit
We spent four nights at the Marriott London County Hall. The view of Big Ben and the London Eye is spectacular. Unfortunately that is the only positive. The Concierge desk is manned by idiots. They are so poorly trained that they consistently give you wrong directions, incorrect phone numbers and overpriced choices for transportation. We had to go to the reception desk to find someone who was intelligent enough to actually help us. Stay away from the restaurant. While the food was average to good, the haughty server in his filthy apron was enough to put us off our dinner. The rooms (we had two) were large but tired and in need of some attention. One of our party had to ask for the sheets to be changed after finding crumbs at the bottom of the bed and marks on the sheets. They also complained that the shower was overflowing onto the floor. The solution given them: towels to soak it up.We stay in Marriott hotels almost exclusively in our travels. This was a disappointing hotel that we tolerated in an effort not to ruin our much anticipated trip.
