Seriously lacking
Although the hotel is well located, it is very deficient for foreign travelers. There were few people working at the front desk that spoke English and often during the day, there was no one who spoke English. Their breakfast is lacking in quality and the overall appearance is just so-so. The value is good as it was less expensive than other nearby hotels, and the room was decent, clean and working. The spa/massage area needs to be remodeled.

Fit The Rate Well!
I have had a 3-night stay from in July 2012 after a business trip in Cixi, China.Good points:1. The location is good! Less than 5 minutes walk to the Metro and less than 20 minutes walk to The Bund and The Nanjing Pedestrian Shopping Street.2. It is safe.3. Value for money if "a roof over the head" is the chief aim.Bad points:1. The building is old and not too well maintained.2. The room is small (but reasonably well cleaned).3. The bathroom is small.4. The breakfast is modest and lack of varieties.Overall: Other than its locality and the attractive rate, I did not discover any other attractiveness. However, it is indeed value for money given the fact that hotel rates are not cheap in Shanghai. I will go back whenever I am doing a "free-and-easy" in Shanghai.

Hassled by hookers
Hotel is in a reasonably good location - 10 minute walk to the Bund and a little further to Nanjing Road.Rooms are small, (and I had a double to myself) so would be tight if you we're sharing. Even non smoking rooms have a stale cigarette smell, so good job that the windows open!Stayed for 3 nights and was offered sex each night by prostitutes either in reception or in the lifts - I'd stay elsewhere

Very Nice hotel convenient to everywhere in Central Shanghai
Good, clean spacious room with a view over the historic post office to the sights and lights that turn on in Pudong from between 6-7pm to around 10pm each night. It's a 10 minute walk to the Bund and 20 to the main shopping area. Has two american fast food outlets 5 min from hotel by nearest Metro station and the Family Mart shops, similar to 7/11, sell sandwiches too.Has a quirky air con system. The hotel doesn't turn it on if the air temperature outside is less than 28 degrees C.Makes for slightly stuffy rooms unless you open windows and put up with the street noise.It is situated very close to a Red light area (150metres)and so much so the Hotel allows ladies of this historic trade to hang around their entrance and in the lobby.Interesting to see such an open minded attitude to the oldest profession.

Terrible stay.
The hotel is located conveniently donwtown Shanghai. However, the internet connection didn't work during my stay and the hotel staff wasn't of any help.No-smoking rooms still smell of cigarets. horrible view from the lower floors.I warmly suggest to avoid this one.
