Hugely disappointing
We stayed at the Europa one night before flying out of Gatwick, our first and last experience of the Britannia Hotel chain.It was cheap and we were hoping a good deal..... but we were wrong. I don't mind cheap, slightly tired hotels when it's just a bed for the night as long as they are clean, this hotel was anything but in both the public areas and our room, the pool changing rooms had their own eco system they were so disgusting.We booked a room for a family of 5 and strangely expected to find 5 beds in the room ready and made up when we checked in. What we found was a room with 4 beds, too many chairs and a put-me-up Z bed in the wardrobe with only two slats to put the mattress on, additionally there was no bedding.I went to reception to explain the problem, expecting that they would send someone with another bed and some bedding and maybe even make the bed up for us which is the minimum you expect when you've paid for a bed for the night.At reception I was given the key to another room which also had a Z bed in the wardrobe and told to swap the beds over myself and if I so wished I could also put a couple of the six chairs that took up all the space in our room in the other room, so I did this and we went for a swim and did battle with the changing room Eco system.3 hours later, having found the drinks machine in the pool area was broken, as was the coffee machine in the hotel bar no sheets had arrived for bed 5, chased them again and went for a very bland buffet dinner that was almost edible.Came back to put kids to bed and found sheets dumped on bed but bed not made.I could go on about the lack of parking, the dirt, the exceptionally poor service from some (but not all) of the staff but will leave you with this summary.No matter how good the deal looks for a stay at the Europa Hotel in Gatwick / Crawley looks, do yourself a favour...... Stay somewhere else.

Lovely, but a bit tired looking!
This is a lovely hotel really, it just needs a bit of loving care! Great for a one night stay as I did to see friends, room was clean and comfortable but could do with a bit of decorating and definitely needs a bathroom makeover! The shower was a bit rusty and cranky but still worked. The reception area is lovely and the staff were very helpful. Didn't eat there but the restaurant area looked nice and ambient. I have read reviews that say the car park is not very good but I didn't find it that bad, found a nice space very easily. I would definitely stay again as its so handy for Crawley and at the end of the day, I had a nice sleep after a good night out!

Wouldn't bother
Stayed here whilst down on business trip. Absolute pain trying to get parked each day, folk parked all over the place, cars thick with dust and muck each day. Could have been near by building works. They didn't have a clue what was going on at reception or anywhere else for that matter. They wanted bill paid upfront, with surcharges for credit and debit cards, then the same charges for anything put on room at end. After paying and getting key(a major piece of work) they just toddled off, nobody pointed us in direction of rooms or anything. Obviously get by on folk only ever staying a night and they are excited about going on holiday and don't really bother too much. The gym was ok, staff seemed to have a bit of a clue. Had food once, it was pretty awful. Ate out rest of week. A few nice places in Crawley, but you're not getting parked when you get back. The room was a bit grotty and needed updating.

a nice little hotel
nice hotel recpetion very clean , even tho recpetion staff couldnt speak english very accomodating, and helpful, i was given a familt room as they had no single rooms avalible, nota problem, wifi is only avalible in rec area , very good signal , we arrived at midnight bar was shut but you are able to buy drinks from the bar 24 hours a day, room was very clean and spacious justa bit of theadbare carpet by bathroom let it down , but went back into rec at 1.30 , as my freind was hungry after working he was going to have room serive only to find the local dominoes pizza which was less than 5 mintues away from hotel was open till 5 am every day including sunday and delivered up till 4.45am , the receptionist even offered to phone for my freind , and they had it delievered to the hotel for no extra chaged whicj was very nice of the hotel staff , just takes a bit of getting used to the different nationalities , the televison was on in rec had music which i liked wasnt a problem to anyone that was there at 2.45 am whicj there were a few as its near the aiprort and people use it as a bolt hole , the shuttle service to and from both terminals at gatwick airport only 5 minutes away, it costs 5 pound to get there, taken to the door , i used very effenct and ontime , i didnt have to geta filght but had to get the train home it was perfect,

Ideal for Travelling from Gatwick Airport
Having booked an 8 day holiday to Italy, we decided to book a hotel near to Gatwick Airport as we had an early flight. Looked on Gatwick Reservations web site, and found the Europa Hotel, offering 1 nights stay and 8 days parking, with Shuttle bus connections to and from North & South Terminals.The Hotel was very clean, as was the double room we had. We had an evening meal in the resturant, which was "buffet" style, but good value.Down side, was no lift to 1st floor, which meant carrying our 2 heavy cases and flight bags up the stairs, and down again early next morning. Finding a parking space could be a bit tricky, as the hotel seems very popular for "stay & fly" customers.
