Loads of character and thankful for it!
If you are on budget then you will be thankful for a place like this. After looking at hotel and hostel options, this was decidedly the best budget deal for my husband and I. This building is probably 100 years old and so you must take some of the 'deficiencies' as 'charm.' The location, as other reviewers may have mentioned, can seem a little sketchy. However, you are just a few blocks from Chinatown & Gastown by foot and Stanley Park is just a bus or bike ride away. Parking is $6/night on the lot next door (that's the price for 2 hours parking downtown). We stayed in the budget room which was very small and basic. We found the room to be sufficient and clean but probably not somewhere you would want to spend loads of time. Wifi did not seem to reach us on the 5th floor. The lobby however is spacious and a great place to hangout, read, get on your computer etc. I can't find fault with the service. People were exceedingly nice and professional. If its your first time in Vancouver and you are staying here, I would be sure to spend time exploring the waterfront and other spiffier sides of Vancouver otherwise your view of Vancouver might be a little lopsided. If you are on a budget and want to be downtown than this is the place to be!

Cheap and nasty
Never seen a place like Hasting Street, close to downtown but surrounded of drug addicts, prostitute and beggars outside the hotel, so disgusting environment not safe for tourist just beware, looks nice in the photos but very deceiving, I know it's cheap like super 6 motel, but the outside of the hotel is too dangerous for a visitors especially who are not familiar in Hasting Street, we cannot forget the experience we seen when we visited Vancouver, we did look for cheap accommodation but not didn't expect like Patricia Hotel, too late when we read the reviews

Fantastic price and comfortable beds
We are staying at this hotel right now and couldn't be more pleased. We spent 14 days on a luxury cruise and this hotel staff is treating us every bit as well as the staff on the cruise, which was also great. Our beds are more comfortable that the cruise ship. We could see our ship from our bedroom window, so the port is quite close. We paid $10 for a taxi from Canada Place, and that included the tip. Our room is very small with two twin beds, but our beds are fantastically comfortable. For the price, we are delighted and have several hundred dollars a day extra for spending on ourselves. We saved a bundle by staying here and will do it again next time we cruise out of Vancouver.

How's your sense of humor?
The desk people, especially Norr, were extremely good and helpful, even when I called from Arizona. The safety issue, which I was a little nervous about because of the reviews on Trip Advisor: yes, there were homeless people close to the hotel, but that might be unpleasant, which is totally different than unsafe. None of those individuals looked healthy enough to be a threat. A cab driver told us that it was a bad part of town. I asked what the crime rate was like there and he said there wasn't any, fortifying my observation. The hotel is pleasantly quirky. The room was too small for the two of us and our luggage as shown in the tongue in cheek photo. But it was difficult to open the door the three pieces of luggage. At $45 (without tax), I would do it again to save $50 elsewhere. We had a nice meal across the street. They are celebrating their hundredth anniversary in November. In your decision to come here, ask yourself, "How is your sense of humor?" If you are demanding or accustomed to a very nice place, the cheap rooms may not be for you, or this hotel. Find the $100-$150 range elsewhere.

Absolutely Incredible
The Patricia Hotel knows what it values. They provide the best possible rooms and service for an incredibly low price. My girlfriend and I came up to Vancouver for a weekend getaway and ended up paying less for the whole stay here than we would have paid for just one night anywhere else in the city. We saved a tremendous amount of money and were able to explore the city much more because of it. The service was also unmatched. Our first night there, an older gentleman (whose name I didn't catch but was something Tanazanian) gave us a complete guide to the surrounding area and let us know what was and wasn't worth checking out. Such friendly service is not the kind of thing I'm used to.My girlfriend and I had a great time here and will definitely stay at this hotel next time we're in Vancouver...you should too!
