Love the heritage rooms!
The heritage rooms at this hotel are in a renovated historic building, the old General Post Office. I love them. High ceilings, charming decor with all amenities, no elevator noise, closer to the restaurant and health club. The tower rooms are good, too. They offer more expansive views, especially of the beautiful old clock tower atop the post office. But, you just don't get something unique like the heritage rooms in a business hotel very often.

position, position, position
They serve a fabulous breakfast and have handy restaurants downstairs if you are running out of time or too tired to go out. We had a great view overlooking the clock and a very spacious, clean room. The position is perfect. Right on Martin Place, opposite Whynyard Station, entrance is on Pitt St so just down from the shops. Walking distance to Circular Quay and the Rocks.

Excellent stay
Check in was efficient! Large room with a view on the 19th floor. Excellent well equipped spacious gym but swimming pool is small and in awkward location (attic like place) with no views. The lobby is magnificent but can appear gloomy at certain times.Well located for shopping and the opera house. Expensive hotel but watch out for special offers.

We stayed at The Westin for a few days in May 2013 whilst visiting Sydney for business and pleasure. We stayed in a heritage room in the amazing old GPO building. Wonderful room. Massive bed. View overlooking Martin Place. Big bathroom. Walk in wardrobe. We did have a little trouble with noise from local bars. There was loud music playing from somewhere on Monday and Tuesday night. Breakfast was included which was buffet style. Very nice but our table was cleared on two different occasions whilst we were up getting something from the buffet. We had to take it in turns to guard table from waiters clearing away our half full coffees etc. Buffet has everything. Reception staff could be extremely robotic. When we asked about my husband losing his glasses they were really unhelpful stating they couldn't help unless we told them exactly when and where we lost them which we obviously didn't know. The building is extremely confusing. There are loads of cafes, restaurants in the basement/lower ground area which have nothing to do with the hotel. You can not charge any of this to your room. The area is full of businessmen who I found rude and chauvinistic. There is a spa in the building too. I had a manicure there which was truly awful. They use their own vanish which is cheap and didn't last longer than a few hours before flaking off. The location is everything. Perfect for shopping, visiting the local sights and good transport links. The best part of the hotel was the guest services staff ie. the bell boys, room service guys and laundry staff. All very kind and friendly. Not sure I would stay here again. The rooms are good but I'm sure there must be other hotels in Sydney that feel less robotic and have more personality.
