A grand old dame
Stayed here on our way to Hobart for business. We didn't realise how busy Launceston was going to be that weekend or we would have booked ahead.Staff were helpful & accommodating at reception - as we had tried several other hotels with no success.We were fortunate to get one of the recently refurbished rooms facing Cameron St and the cathedral opposite. The decor was very smart and neat and crisp. There was ample room. The only complaint would be the fact that there was only an added air conditioning unit that was not that useful. And you could hear the church bells every time they chimed. Apart from that it was not a bad place to stay.

Nice place to stay
Stayed here for work and was impressed with the room. The room had 2 double beds and was neat and tidy. Paid $124 and this is good value in this location. I would stay here again and was happy with the service. Didn't use any of the facilities but the menu looked reasonable in the restaurant.

disappointing room service
stayed for 1 night on our way to cradle Mountain. The hotel has a dated & tired decor. Our room was spacious & the bed comfortable.However we were disappointed with the availability of room service meals. We arrived late & the only options were pizza or wedges or a garden salad that consisted of lettuce leaves & 2 small tomatoes Surely healthier options should be available & a greater range in a hotel of this size.

Spacious, comfortable, quality
Stayed just one night on a quick business trip to Launceston. This hotel was easy to find, well located, well priced and had everything I needed for a business visitor. The hotel was busy with Targa Tasmania visiting (didn't know that when we booked) but even so the service we received was attentive, professional and friendly.The rooms had plenty of space, were very clean and tidy. Not new rooms, but certainly not "old" either. They had a clean and comfortable feel about them.Breakfast was fantastic, and the staff in the dining room were terrific.When I need to go back to Launceston, this is where I will stay.

Didn't feel like 4.5 star
Stayed for work as it was close to the office. Check in process friendly and efficient and pillow menu was good. Other than that the rest was average. Noisy portable air conditioners just don't cut it and the room while clean was very tired. Took forever to get the hot water temp right and strangely only one water glass in the room, although several beer and wine glasses.My room on the second floor was over noisy air conditioners and exhaust fans, I understand this is sometimes necessary but surely the windows could be double glazed to minimise disruption to guests. Only one of the two windows had both curtains so privacy was an issue.Overall location was good but hotel average at best.
