Measures up to Disney's Deluxe Resorts
I have stayed at a few other Disney resorts (Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, and Grand Floridian) and this "moderate" resort is an excellent Disney option to save a few bucks on your vacation. The rooms are recently renovated and very nice, the biggest difference from the Deluxe resorts is the mattress which is not quite a plush (however you'll be so tired from Disney that you will just pass out so you'll hardly notice). The bus transportation here was the best I have ever had at Disney World with prompt service to/from the parks and Downtown Disney. We only ate here for breakfast some days and they have plenty of options to meet everyones needs. The store in the resort also has much of a selection than just the usual Disney merchandise. As usual, the staff members are friendly and ready to meet all of your needs. Overall, I would stay at this Disney resort again and I think it could be classified as a "Deluxe-Moderate" resort.

"Worth every penny!"
Just came back from an incredible 7 night stay at the Port Orleans Riverside. This was our third and most certainly our favorite visit at the beautiful Riverside. I must admit, when I booked the trip the rates seemed a bit pricey at first as compared to non-Disney hotels.....but to me, it was worth every penny. Firstly, the grounds are spectacular! Rooms are updated and themed accordingly. The water taxi that travels to downtown Disney is a great way to just relax and take in all the beautiful views. The resort also provides a food court in the main building. It's a great choice for breakfast...... particularly, when you don't have the luxury to waste any time in getting to the parks. Our favorite thing to do in Disney is spend everyday at the parks.....The best advice I can give is not to venture into the parks too late or you will miss out on getting your fast passes for your favorite rides. We have it down to a science now.Another standout at this particular resort is the customer service.....It's outstanding in every department! Everything from Mousekeeping to the front desk, concierge, doorman and the food service cast members. This is what our package looked like.......Disney basic Dining Plan Standard Royal Guest Room(excellent location) Five day Magic your way tickets(no park hopper) Disney Magical Express Advanced Dining reservations Behind the scenes tours at the parks We also used all the complimentary Disney transportation. It was convenient and we had no more than a five minute wait. Overall, our stay at the Port Orleans Riverside was superb on every level!

Best moderate resort
Having stayed here multiple times in the past I am happy to report that it is as delightful as ever. The rooms are clean, well appointed, and very comfortable. The grounds and the food court are immaculate. While I prefer Magnolia Bend the entire property is beautiful. My favorite place to stay.

Great Getaway
Booked a standard room, got a garden view corner room with a Mickey towel head to greet us (room 8778), my parents had an adjoining room (8779). We had our privacy please sign out the whole time so they just left a bag hanging on the door with the necessities for the next day (unless I happened to catch the mousekeeper, Marie was ours during the week, to get what we needed)Main pool - visited it once, DS liked the quiet pool better, said the main pool was too busy and noisy. I kinda agree on that. The slide is okay, OKW's slide seems faster.Food Court - we utilized this quite a few times. The chocolate cake at the bakery is WONDERFULL. Very moist and tasty. Got a cinnamon roll for breakfast, it looks good but is very hard on the outside and dry on the inside. DS and grandparents got the whole pepperoni pizza twice and it was very tasty and the best price we found for a whole pizza throughout Disney. I had the create your own pasta on our last day, it was okay, I think less noodles would taste better and it would seem like there would be enough sauce for all the noodles. DH got the Turkey dinner one night and I got the ham dinner one night, DH said his had good flavor, mine was okay. DH also had the mufalatta twice and said it was good. Wasn't too crowded the times we ate but I went there a couple of times to refill the mugs and it was packed.Entertainment - caught Yee Haw Bob's show two different nights, he's a hoot, I can see why he is so popular. Arcade is okay, DS won me a Donald from the claw gameRoom - Very comfortable, the only problem is that if you want the fridge to stay cold, you need to leave the door to the cabinet it is in open part way. I know that they put it in there for looks, but it doesn't make sense to have the keep the door open. My parents had to have theirs replaced, it was not keeping anything cold even with the door open. They said that it was working but when you shut the fridge door, you could tell that it wasn't running. Once they got a new one, everything was fine.Took the boat to DD one evening, had a little wait, but otherwise a nice ride on the river.Bus service wasn't too bad, sometimes hit and miss on catching them, we were near the east depot, so we utilized that alot. Never could tell when coming back from the parks though, whether they were going to go around all the stops then last south or start at south. This is our 2nd time at POR (1st time was in 1995 when it was Dixie Landings) and I would stay again. We "visited" other resorts, just to see what they look like and like this one the best (out of the moderates), the only ones we didn't see are CBR, CSR, ASMu, ASSports & SSR.Just a side note, if you would like a good down home cooking buffet, you need to visit the Fort Wilderness buffet for dinner. We ate there twice and for the money (I think it's the cheapest buffet on Disney) it is worth it and filling.

Love the Royal Rooms!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside for 8 nights beginning May 4th. We both loved this resort! It is divided into two sections: Magnolia Bend and Alligator Alley. We booked a Royal Room which are located in the Magnolia Bend section. The resort is large and the grounds are really beautiful and nice to walk around but depending on where you are located, it can be a long walk from the bus stop at the end of the night, We requested the Oak Manor building when we checked in online and our request was granted. Our building was near a bridge to cross over to the main area where you'll find the main pool, front desk, food court, restaurant, lounge, gift shop, buses, etc. There are also "quiet pools" by the buildings. There are four bus stops and the buses came quite frequently. We never had trouble getting anywhere on time for reservations, even early morning ones. Coming back to the resort, Riverside bus lines were often quite long and buses were usually very full at night after park closings but the French Quarter buses weren't. We discovered that it was quicker and definitely more enjoyable to hop on a practically empty bus to FQ & then enjoy a leisurely boat ride to Riverside. Beats standing on a crammed bus! It was also nice to go to Downtown Disney by boat...lots of nice things to see on the way and it was a really nice and relaxing ride. As for the rooms....the Royal Rooms are fabulous! So much attention to detail! All recently renovated too. The little touches were great, from the genie lamp faucet at the sink to the magic carpet on the floor and all the framed pictures from the princesses. Each room has two queen beds and above them you have your very own fireworks display! I LOVE this! You press a button and you see a fiber optic fireworks display. It's really cool. I think kids would really enjoy these rooms! You also have a mini fridge which is great for drinks & snacks or milk for morning cereal. The rooms were quiet and mousekeeping kept them clean and well stocked with toiletries. I did find the AC unit a little louder than normal though. I'd recommend trying a wake up call too - usually a different character with a fun message. The food court here offered pretty standard fare but had a variety of choices. We usually ate outside the resort but did try a couple of items here and have no complaints. It is very busy at breakfast time! The refillable drink stations was quite useful if you choose to purchase the mug. Also, check out Yeehaw Bob at The River Roost Lounge...high energy fun! Overall, I'd highly recommend this resort while vacationing at Disney, The grounds are immaculate, the Royal Rooms are wonderful, lots of resort activities and great staff as expected from Disney!
