Fantastic resort!
We stayed here from 13th May to 15th May we checked in very early so got nearly the whole day to to look around ect. We stayed at it's sister resort last year and didn't think anything could top that! We are very pleased to be wrong! and the whole laid back feel and closeness of this resort is great! This in my opinion is the best moderate resort around the area and we are still talking about how much we loved it 5 days on from our return home.I think if we get back to Florida we will definitely stay here again!

Magical Honeymoon
I surprised my bride for our honeymoon by treating her to a Disney World honeymoon. This was my second time staying in a Disney World Resort hotel and my wife's first time staying on the resort grounds. There is so much to do here it is hard to know where to start. From the time we arrived on the Magical Express bus we were welcomed by numerous cast members. After visiting our room, we headed to dinner (about a 2-3 min walk from our room) and were presented with Mickey-shaped bignets and the word "Congratulations!" written in chocolate syrup, balloons, and congratulatory postcards given to us by an executive cast member. All of this is to say Disney made us feel beyond special. I also decided to make a horse drawn carriage reservation which departed from the Riverside half of the resort (about a 10 min walk from French Quarter on a well lit path along the river). This was a great resort for honeymooning at. Some kids, but not a ton of them, and beautiful grounds. One of the down side we noticed about our stay was the bus schedule. We always seemed to 'just miss' the bus we wanted (minus a couple times when we had the bus timing dead on) and another bus wouldn't be back to the resort for about 20-25 minutes (Disney claims their buses run roughly 15 min apart). If you have meal reservations be prepared to possibly wait a little longer, and be sure to give yourself plenty (1 hour advised on Disney Dining site, but I would say up to an hour-and-a-half, depending on how far you need to travel). The boat service to Downtown Disney also was a little slow. Boats were driving past the French Quarter dock and heading up to the Riverside dock to load up more often when we tried riding it one evening, but after about a 35 minute wait near the front of the line, we finally got on. Port Orleans French Quarter was a great place to stay and was very relaxing overall!

Out of this World!!
Me and my family went to the Port Orleans french quarter for 3 weeks last year! It was the best holiday i ever had. The customer service in the hotel is worth it alone! About 6 years ago we stayed at the all star movies but we managed to get a package deal and part of it was to stay at a medium disney hotel and get the disney dining plan. If any of you end up getting this offer definitely get it!! You save so much money if you plan your days out before you go. The pool area is great and the dining is wonderful. We particularly liked the french quarter as it was a bit quieter and we had a riverside view. It also had a riverboat to down town disney! You have to book and stay at this hotel its amazing!!!

Well worth the money
Me and my girlfriend (24/21) went to Orlando to do all the parks for her 21'st birthday. I would seriously advise staying in a disney hotel itself because it was fantastic! It was a little bit more expensive than staying on say international drive but once you take into account the free disney dining plan we got and the free transport to all disney attractions it didn't work out expensive at all. We got free disney dining plan so I am not sure how much it would cost to get seperately but as a free gift it was brilliant! we could dine at any 'self service' restaurant at any park, downtown disney and even at other hotels if we wanted to. Port orleans is split into two sections, French quarter (FQ) and riverside (RS). We stayed at the FQ and I would stay in that side again if we went back because it was a lot smaller, so less kids running about and quite a bit quieter. I did go for a run around part of the RS and we went to go have food there too but we prefered the FQ's food hall. Food in the hotel was great, I mainly only ate burgers and pizzas but my girlfriend had a couple of different things and enjoyed them, the only issue was there wasn't enough variety for her. Most of the food is cooked when you order it so nice and fresh. I could talk forever about different parts of disney - even if you don't stay at this hotel, stay at a disney one. This hotel was classed as a moderate hotel (other classifactions are something like value and premier or something) I would advise spending a little bit extra to go moderate as opposed to the cheaper value ones. Unless you have kids because they would probably prefer the value ones as they are more child based. The pool was medium sized, but adequate for the size of FQ and it was clean and even had some games going on for the younger ones. They also put on a film every night on a projector for you to sit on the grass behind one of the buildings and watch it. We didn't go see anything because the one thing we would have went to watch was on a night we had planned to be at one of the firework shows. The free busses to the parks and downtown disney are great. some times it gets annoying when there are a lot of people on them but there are plenty of busses coming all the time so don't worry about squashing on. Little tip regarding taxi's - they can work out very expensive if one person is paying. If you can get hold of a bus route and have the time to use the bus do it. Busses to shopping malls and sea world are easy to navigate. Busses to universal you have to change busses so unless your confident - use a taxi.

Happy in the end, but it started badly.
Some months ago we booked online and paid for a "King" room at Port Orleans, Riverside. We were coming from New Orleans where we stayed in the French Quarter (FQ) so thought the recently renovated riverside "mansion" rooms would be a nice change. Also various TA reviews, along with Frommer's guidebook, were favourable. Imagine our surprise to find on check in that a "King" room was not available at Riverside so we would have to go to FQ. After a 6 hour drive we just wanted to get settled in for our 4 night stay at Walt Disney World. Also, we were now too late to visit EPCOT and see Illuminations that night, thus wasting one day of our pre-paid 4 day pass. This was just the beginning of our dramas.FQ is a drive away so back on the car. Of course we were promised the electronic keys issued at Riverside would open our room. Guess what? They didn't. A 300 metre walk to FQ reception (in a temporary location) and the usual dumbfounded looks from the front desk staff until my tired anger (and language) got someone moving. New keys provided, and I insisted someone accompany me back to the room to ensure they worked. Our neighbors had let us use their phone to call, but after 10 minutes on hold we gave up.Anyway, after all this we were, ultimately, happy with the room (a corner one overlooking the garden), and FQ is much quieter than Riverside, with a much less busy food court. There is a nice walking/jogging path that is nice for early morning walk or run. Not crowded at all.Our complaining did result in a $93 credit to our account however, so it's worth complaining if you have a problem. This amount was based on the difference between online prices for the 2 resorts, and the loss of one day's usage of our WDW 4 day pass.Next drama occurred when we made some bookings at the FQ concierge desk. What a useless fellow we encountered! He passed me the phone so I could make my own golf booking! Then he booked our Wild African Trek at Animal Kingdom for the wrong day. When we noticed the booking slip was wrong 2 days later we were lucky to find someone who could fix it. She even got us a partial refund due to going at a later time.Whilst staying at a Disney resort incurred problems for us, overall it's the way to go. The free transport to and from the Disney parks is very efficient and convenient. Free ferry ride from the Port Orleans resort to Downtown Disney also a positive. As mentioned, I played golf. This was at Disney's Lake Beuna Vista course and included free taxi pickup & return, as well as a discount for being a Disney guest. All in all, we left happy with our stay.
