A fresh look
This hotel is a breath of fresh air in Singapore. Where most other hotels provide a corporate look and feel the New Majestic provides individually designed room interiors, a great lobby for relaxing and an award winning restaurant.We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every minute. The bed was comfortable, The in room Nespresso machine was a great addition for this kiwi traveler. The hotel is about 100m away from the metro (Outram Park) and walking distance to many fine restaurants. However the restaurant located in the hotel is one of the best i have eaten at and going by the number of awards displayed on the walls it's no surprise. be prepared to pay top dollar though.The staff were all excellent in their service and helpfulness. I would definitely be coming back.

Good stay
I did not make a reservation for this hotel but because its sister property, Wanderlust was experiencing an electricity shut down, I was being move to this hotel. They offered me a complimentary upgrade to their Attic Suite as a form of service recovery.Check in took about 10 minutes and the staff who handled my check in, Patrick was so cold. He did not make a single conversation with us throughout the process. This wasn't what I expect from a front desk staff of a hotel (even if this is just a small boutique hotel). The other staff, whom I wasn't able to get hold of his name (he doesn't seem to be local) was much friendlier and he was the one who brought us up to the room. He made a short introduction of the hotel and told us where is the pool and gym, where can we get breakfast and the timings etc. He showed us into the room and explained where to switch on/off the lights and air-con temperature. That was done excellently.The Attic Suite is pretty decent. What first caught my eye was the two bath tubs in the room and the paintings on the walls. It was a loft room, where the bed is located up the steps. There are two washing areas - so you and your partner can each have your own space to wash up. The toiletries were from Kiehls and they provided a shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and hand and body lotion - that was decent. There are two televisions in the room - one on top facing the bed and one below which can be turned 360 degrees so you can either watch the television whilst taking a bath or from the couch. I also liked that they had a Nespresso machine. Overall, the room was satisfactory. I just have a slight concern - I could hear people shouting from the rooms next door and vacuuming sounds so it was a little irritating. Other than that, the room was comfortable enough.Other facilities include a small swimming pool on the 2nd floor and a small gym. The pool's not really for swimming, maybe just a place to relax and use the jacuzzi. Breakfast was fairly decent with a choice of tea/coffee and eggs whatever way you like. It was a small buffet spread with fresh fruits, cereal, fresh milk, a variety of bread and spreads, Chinese buns and porridge. Since the breakfast was inclusive with the room, we had breakfast there but I would not pay $38++ to have breakfast there if my room didn't include breakfast. I have been to hotels which charge around $5-$10 more but with better buffet breakfast spreads. Nevertheless, the staff at the breakfast restaurant were very friendly and helpful.Check out was honestly, a little bad. We had to wait almost 15 minutes before we could leave because the staff had to walkie the housekeeping staff (I suppose) to say that we have checked out and they probably went to check the room thoroughly before they released us. Maybe they can be looked into to shorten guests' waiting time for check-out.

We got what we wanted....

Small is good
We also prefer to stay at boutique hotels. The rooms are small-ish but still comfortable and great beds. Excellent showers, complimentary drinks are a nice touch and free Wi-Fi (this is a given yet many hotels in Europe especially still try and charge!) and also the Bose stereo system. Close to the MRT, some great eating spots nearby and helpful staff. A room with a shower for no extra cost after you checked out is a great extra. Only gripe which is such an easy fix but still not done in the years that we have been staying IS extra shelves in the bathroom PLEASE there is no where big enough for 2 toiletries bags if you are a couple ( staff got me a stool) even hooks would help and there is enough space for a rack without spoiling the design.

Quirky one!
Great designed boutique hotel. I enjoyed all the unusual decorations starting from lobby to the room decor. The bed wasn't the most comfy one, bit too small for 2 people. Big plus for Nespresso machine in every room, free soft drinks in the fridge and awesome location. Chinatown is my favourite part of Singapore with great dining options in a short walking distance. Very close to MRT station, easy to go to Sentosa for a day trip. The worst part - breakfast. Oily eggs, just a few things in the buffet.
