Concierge is fantastic

This was my second trip to White Plains for business. Emily the concierge was amazing. She made sure we had transportation to and from our training each day, gave great recommendations for local restaurants, and even delivered pizza to our training when we could not get a pizzeria to deliver. Of all the hotels at which I have stayed, Emily has truly been the most helpful, friendly, and effective concierge. The renovations to the hotel are very nice and it was great to have a mini-fridge in the room for a week long stay.

Best Concierge!

I travel a great deal and stay in hotels more than my own home. Every once in awhile you meet someone who makes a difference, in the most positive way. The Concierge at this hotel, Emily, is such a delight to speak with and is always so helpful. She makes our stay as comfortable as possible and represents this hotel wonderfully. I look forward to seeing her every time we return here.The hotel itself has gone through many changes in the past few years. The room I had this time was the nicest since we began staying here. If they could just finish the parking garage...

Exclusivity at a higher price for much less value.

The Crowne Plaza-White Plains has been one of my favorite hotels for close to 8 years. I recently stayed at the hotel to find that many changes had taken place. All the rooms were updated and looked amazing. The gym has more equipment and has a nice fresh look. The reason this hotel got an average rating from me this time is because of the changes to the 12th floor Club Lounge and the television stations.Typically when i stayed at this hotel I was allowed to stay on the 11th or 12th floors because I'm a platinum member & have been staying here for several years. People staying on the two top floors are granted access to the club lounge on the 12th floor. When i checked in last week I was told that i could not have a room on the upper floors because there is a new charge of $40. The girl who checked me in went on to explain that they wanted the club lounge to be more "exclusive". I told her that this really disappointed me and that i would be making another review on TripAdvisor to complain and inform other travelers of this new policy. She then decided that she would be generous and allow me to test out the new lounge for my stay. I expressed gratitude and looked forward to seeing all the new upgrades the lounge had to offer. Once settled in, i immediately went to the lounge to see what things looked like. The color scheme was changed- a nice light grey and green. It was very zen like with the lighting. As i was walking in a young lady was standing there to check me in- this was something new and i thought nothing of it. there was another young lady present to offer beers, wine and oh wow, they now had liquor. Since i'm not much of drinker, I figured I would just get something to eat, but there was nothing really there. All the time I had stayed at this hotel they always had hot snacks and appetizers- not anymore! What a disappointment. Worse yet, the young lady that I mentioned who check me in actually stayed there to watch everyone. She was like the lounge sentinel, making sure no one stole a beer i guess??? I went back the next morning to see if there was anything to eat for breakfast, like they use to and the answer was no! Well, let me give them credit, they had breakfast bars, yogurt and coffee. And yes, there was someone to check us in and stare at us while we watched the morning news and drank coffee. The new lounge is now nothing more than a glorified living room with a security guard. On top of this I was charged the extra $40 dollars for staying on the upper level when it was supposed to be complementary- it took forever getting that fixed, so my check-out took a way longer than expected. The second disappointment was that they have removed the ability to buy movies. Why would a hotel do that? I was told that guest were give two new movie channels-HDNET (47) and 48. The same movies came on most evenings multiple times, so there was very little variety. We now have multiple channels of sports and more sports-i swear there are like 6 channels of all the sports you can think of. I think they are trying to cater to businessmen and have totally forgotten about businesswomen, government workers that can't afford the extra 40 bucks, and the loyal customers that really love this hotel. The staff still are great and i give them kudos as always!

Tiaras and Low Water Pressure

My wife and I stayed here 1 night. After parking in the garage which is under construction we walked into the lobby in the middle of a taping of Toddlers and Tiaras which made the lobby and check in frenetic. The rooms were fine and we didn't hear Ny noise related to the taping 9 floors below. Biggest complaint about the room is the really weak water pressure... The sink fully open gave made a quarter turn worth of water.
