Worst spa in London!
We bought a spa day at the Radisson Blu New Providence Wharf for a 70th birthday through spa breaks.com- there was a group of 7 of us, aged from 27-70 and we thought it sounded like the perfect place for some relaxation and something for everyone... So wrong! We were really looking forward to a full spa day with manicures but it was just a big waste of money and time.Firstly upon arrival (and despite booking in advance) we had to wait for over half an hour to sit down for afternoon tea because they were hoovering and mopping the dining room area. This meant the birthday girl had to miss her massage (which the spa had changed the time of without telling us as well) and they couldn't rearrange for another time. The afternoon tea was nice and they did bring out a cake for the birthday which was lovely, but the food otherwise was decidedly average.Upon heading up to the spa after our tea, we were really looking forward to getting into our swimming costumes and enjoying the 'wet facilities' which we understood would include some kind of jacuzzi/pool, and supposedly some luxury steam room and sauna and relaxation area. Oh no!We were given tatty, dirty dressing gowns and shown into the 'relaxation room' which consisted of 6 stone heated loungers.... Which were full as the spa was obviously extremely overbooked. So we had to stand around until they became free. It was basically a hot holding room, with some kind of noisy generator sound which never stopped.... Not at all relaxing! When we asked what other facilities there were, we were told that was it apart from the gym and a tiny sauna/steam room area. How were we supposed to spend 3 hours here and how can this be justified as a spa day?!We had our manicures which were nice apart from the very uncomfortable treatment rooms - probably fine for massages but sitting on a stool on wheels leaning across a massage table wasn't relaxing at all! The colour selection was minimal too... Only 6 or so colours to choose from and all pinks or reds.As soon as we had our manicures, we got changed again and left. No sign of any ice fountain at all!I'm sure this is fine as a hotel gym and if you want a massage whilst staying in the hotel, but to sell it as a spa day experience is a complete joke! The spa staff were extremely nice and friendly and understanding... It sounded like this is a common problem that they are overbooked and have a lot of unhappy customers, and I felt sorry for them having us so unhappy and disappointed with what we had been sold compared to what we got... Expectations were definitely not managed in advance. They did offer us a bottle of Prossecco as a token for how disappointed we were which was appreciated, but not nearly enough to make up for the ¿¿40 each we paid and the disappointment to be so greatly missold the experience we thought we were going to get!Overall, a miserable experience for all involved.

Best Hotel in Canary Wharf!
I am often in Canary Wharf and I have tried many of the hotels in the area. This one by far was the best. I was upgraded to a suite and the rooms were beautifully appointed with lots of extras like Nespresso coffee, complimentary water in the room each day (not just one free bottle, but every day). The bathroom was amazing (the bathroom even had a fog free tv in it which was great in the mornings while getting ready to go. The staff is very friendly and accomodating and although not really in walking distance of the wharf there is a free shuttle in the mornings which leaves every ten minutes. I only wish our company had a better corporate rate with them as they are often more expensive than Hilton or the Four Seasons (which offers many deals). I am in London every few weeks and I'd stay there exclusively but often times, their rates are not competitive enough. Still, I'll go back every time I can!

AMAZING!!
We stayed at this hotel for one night while a visit to see P!NK in the O2. First of all the reception staff was absolutely wonderful, warm & friendly. It was also our first wedding anniversary which unknown to me my husband had popped a note on booking about this. We were complimentary upgraded to a fantastic room with a view overlooking the O2 - had a wonderful and artistic chocolate display in our room on arrival & a ¿¿25 drinks voucher for the bar downstairs. And also a 20% discount in the restaurant. Unfortunately we were unable to use the restaurant as we were already running late for the show. Coming from South Wales we traveled quite a few hours and so didn't arrive until 4.30pm. I am only disappointed that we didn't stay an extra night to enjoy the full extent of the hotels facilities. The hotel staff and service was fantastic. Location great and the hotel itself - outstanding! We will definitely be going back again for a few nights. (Maybe even our next years anniversary) We booked with the hotels website directly and they were having a "sale" at the time of booking. So it would be worth a look at their website first before booking via a comparison site. Fantastic!

Style over substance
I stayed one night here for business during which time I used one of their meeting rooms and had breakfast, lunch and dinner in their restaurant. I did not use the spa so cannot comment on that at all. Overall the restaurant was average. They seemed utterly unprepared for our party at lunch the first day initially providing enough food for about half our number and spent the whole time back tracking after that trying to bring more food but in no sensible order. A huge cheese platter for example was followed 20 minutes later by the cheese biscuits to have with it. Clueless and inexcusable for such an expensive hotel.Dinner that evening was marred by several dishes not being available despite that the restaurant was not that busy, even basics like a broccoli side dish.Breakfast was adequate but nothing more I have seen equally good in hotels that charge half their nightly rateOur meeting room by the front entrance was again just about adequate but an awkward shape, not enough sockets for laptops phones etc and hard to control heating/ aircon. The room on the fifth floor was a good size with a nice view of the river and the dome. The bathroom was very large and well equipped but oddly the only wardrobe space was also in the bathroom and limited. What was really odd was the wired in hair dryer in a cupboard with the trouser press and iron etc. First why wired in and why in a Cupboard? At 500 pounds a night do they really find people taking the hair dryers??? Also this cupboard had a motion sensitive light, the only one in the room as far as I could tell which kept flickering on and off if you left the door open. Walk in shower is nice a big but water pressure quite low. The worst part was the bed. Overly firm mattress with a topper that was about 3mm thick - what use is that likely to be? Also all the glass and nice view also meant incredible wind noise at night so little sleep between that and the mattress.Overall even if it were half the price I could not recommend it at the price it is its simply ridiculous

Lovely Birthday Treat - 4.5 out of 5!
Date visited:13.05.13For my 23rd birthday, my mum booked a spa day; which included 3 hours use in the shower/sauna/steam/relaxation rooms, 30 minute treatment and 2 course lunch. We found the hotel via DLR Blackwall but we discovered that going via East India was better for us (on return). The reception was very spacious and there were staff there happy to help. We had a treatment time of 2pm (I had a Swedish massage and my mum had a mini pedi). We arrived at 11am and were shown our locker room and the shower/sauna areas. It was a bit smaller than I expected but we seem to be 1 couple of about 3 others that were there at the time. The lady at reception was very welcoming. We spent the first 1hour and ¿¿ using the spa and this was relaxing and fun. We enjoyed the little touches such as, being supplied tea and water in the relaxation room, having bathrobes supplied and the fact that (because it was a Monday) it was quiet. We headed down to lunch at 12:30 and was slightly off putted by the loud drilling noise coming from outside the bar area. We asked a member of bar staff if the drilling would continue during lunch and thankfully he informed us there would be at most 10-15mins of disturbance. The noise did stop before we were served lunch just after 1pm. The food was very tasty and we were both full from our lunch until the evening. We then went to our treatments which we both thoroughly enjoyed. My masseuse was very skilled. I did not feel shy/uncomfortable and was handled in a professional manner. We then had ice cream refreshments and spent the remaining 1hour and ¿¿ in the spa. We both left feeling very refreshed. I will definitely recommend this experience and only wished we had booked to stay the night.Pros: Customer service, food, location, treatments Cons: (being a little picky) Size of shower/sauna rooms, noise/disturbance before lunch
