Dont let the pictures fool you!
I was really disappointed with this hotel. I booked on line and paid extra for a 4 poster bed. When I finally found my way to the room and opened I - it smelt awful! The room was so tiny that I couldn't actually get my suitcase in the room. The four poster took up all the room and the standard of the rest of the room was very poor, badly finished decoration and old. I complained at reception and after 30 mins or so the receptionist agreed to come up to the room and have a look. He agreed that there was a smell and after some discussion offered me another room, which didn't have a 4 poster bed but was bigger (enough to get my suitcase it!). They didn't offer me any reduction in price nor apologise for the inconvenience. I had to move my luggage from one room to another myself. Breakfast was terrible, not a lot of variety and if you wanted anything warm, eggs etc you had to pay and it wasn`t cheap. I preferred not to have breakfast there and pop around the corner to 'Pret' for their breakfast options. The location of the hotel was convenient for the tube station. I wouldn't stay here again unless the place was renovated.

I have no idea how Mayflower has 4 stars on tripadvisor
the room was clean but that's about all I say good about it! The halls are a maze and the room was so tight - only one person could pass without the other person completely on the bed! The desk was unmanageable and ridiculously crammed. For the price I would never recommend Mayflower!

Not a nice hotel, bit of a maze inside, would give it 2*s
Our company has put us up in this hotel each time we have been down to a trade show at Earl's Court. So I have stayed in this hotel a total of 3 times over the past few years. And it has not improved at all, and clearly are not spending the money they must rake in on any improvements what so ever.On the most recent stay, our sink was dripping water onto the floor. Upon reporting it to the staff a short term fix was made by putting a towel underneath. Then getting a suitable fix the following day.Getting around the hotel is a bit of an effort! I would not like to attempt returning to my hotel room intoxicated for fear of getting lost or falling down one of the staircases.The actual room itself is poorly equipt and small. The beds were tiny! I was sharing the room and it was a twin with two single beds. But they must have been child size! I am not a tall man, just short of 6 foot. And my feet were always hanging off the end of the bed.As this was a business trip, I need to iron my shirts each morning. Although they have traveled quite well and needed a small amount of ironing, the provisions of the hotel were not acceptable. I was given a small table top ironing board when there was not much counter top space to place it. Not to mention it being grubby and broken. The iron was in the same condition, broken and very grubby. Also worth mentioning, that irons and ironing boards need to be requested, and sometimes you have to pop back and ask again as they have none in stock.The continental breakfast was mediocre at best. Although it was nice to grab a newspaper and have a read while having a tea in the morning.Overall I would say this is a pretty poor hotel. I think the price is very expensive for the quality you get. No way near 4* quality!!! I have no idea how they have the nerve to put those stars up outside the hotel.I would not like to recommend this hotel to anyone, and next time the company goes to a trade show in London I will be seeking to change our 'usual'!

Tiny rooms with appalling bathrooms and indifferent/ignorant management
The hotel is well located, being close to Earl's Court and Knightsbridge, and it's very easy to find from Earl's Court tube station.However the rooms are tiny and the bathrooms are so small as to be ridiculous. When I mentioned this to the duty manager, I was told "I can show you a smaller room if you like". The furnishings in the rooms are not of a high quality; certainly not of a four-star standard.I will not be staying there again and I would not recommend it to anyone.

not a patch on its sister hotel
Frequently stayed in 20 Nevern Square. Foolishly assumed / advised by reservations that the Mayflower was in the same league. As other reviewers have commented, the management showed a distinct lack of interest in resolving problemsPros- the location is good, close to tube, restaurants etcCons - wifi didn't work, reported it, guy on desk said "it should work" - not until another guest appeared with the same complaint was there any suggestion that it might be looked at.No hot water in shower in the early evening, reported, but again no response. Happened again following evening and the next morning. Reporting it at check out elicited the response "there's lots of hot water"One had almost to fight for bread rolls in the morning - usually finished halfway through the breakfast times. Likewise, the spoons (makes for an interesting observation - a four star hotel without sufficient spoons at breakfast)Overall, the quality was far short of any hotel (even by London conditions) let alone four star - steer clear
