Great hotel
Just spent a weekend at this hotel and cannot praise them enough. As a wheelchair user any holiday or short break has to be planned but we were not disappointed. ALL the staff were friendly and helpful with nothing to much trouble. We enjoyed it that much that we have booked a further 2 holidays there. Although the decor is a little tired the fantastic staff certainly make up for it. We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived and the staff seemed genuinely pleased to help in any way they could. As my disability includes a very restricted diet this can be a real problem when away, but not this time. There was a large selection of food on offer and the staff were more then happy to store my food as this is usually the best option for me. In the dining room the tables were cleared and cleaned quickly but even when busy we never felt rushed to finish our meal and it was nice not to have staff hanging around waiting for you to finish. It was also nice not to have to listen to staff moaning about work or about what they are doing later as this is something we have probably all experienced. If staff were not busy with customers they kept busy keeping the place clean and tidy but always available if needed. Can't wait to go back.

Yes it is OK!
I booked this hotel and then read the reviews. ALL the reviews were pretty awful and I was therefore dreading going there. I have just returned and my experience was that the hotel is excellent. It was absolutely well worth the money (for the room and the meals), but even disregarding the very reasonable value for money for the room, whatever its cost it was perfectly adequate. My main disappointment was that I wanted to stay an extra night but couldn't because the hotel was fully booked! All the staff we met were very polite and helpful. The room was very big and had all the amenities we could possibly want. Okay it was a bit jaded, but it was perfectly clean and had all the amenities we could possibly need. Just think, for the very reasonable cost of Bed and Breakfast, you have entertainment in the evening (music, dancing, bingo, and cabaret) - maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but it was all there. And for a small ¿¿4 you could use their swimming pool, spa, etc. The drink prices matched those of a very reasonable pub, and as for the meal deals, well I don't know how they make a profit! I'll agree with some criticisms. Eg the car park was fullish - but it was enormous so most people were able to park there. The food was at least good, and some was great The choice was amazing, and the price was the lowest I've ever seen. The lifts were busy, but we were fit and used the stairs. There were two restaurants, the Harbour and the Victoria. I think all-in have to go to the Harbour, but if you pay separately you can go to the Victoria. The Victoria is like a posh restaurant, the Harbour a bit like a work's canteen. The food and service is quite adequate in the Harbour, but it does lack a bit of ambience and sophistication. Would I go again - you bet I would!

Terrible!
Do not stay here. Liverpool Echo need to review this hotel. Apalling value for moment. Food was second rate and area wasIntimidating. Not good value for money. Very intimidating of an evening and not clearly labelled as a second rate hotel when you book .

O.M.G!!!!
Never ever have I stayed in such a run down dirty and unsafe hotel. Thank god it was only for the one night whilst waiting for the ferry. On arrival I put the car in what is laughingly called the underground car park. It looked like something out of a disaster movie. The floor was strewn with rubbish and building material. On entering the hotel we were asked to pay for the room straight away. A good plan on the hotels part because if I had seen the room first I would have walked out. Shown as a best deal on booking . com it was reduced from ¿¿89 to ¿¿39, I would be hard pressed to say it was worth ¿¿39. The corridor on floor 5 to the room was dirty with stains all over the carpet and things didnt get better in the room. The view across the harbour was excellent unfortunately I then looked around the room. The carpet was again stained and the whole room was generally dirty. The bathroom was a shocker. The wc was stained black below the water line, there was black mould on the sealant around the bath and tiles were falling off the wall. The electrical appliances in the room all had safety inspection stickers on but with the exception of the bathroom radiator none of them showed a date when last inspected. The electric towel rail in the bathroom showed a date in 2005, not bad considering its 2013 and it should be done annually. Feeling decidedly grubby the following morning went down to breakfast, had a look at what was on offer (there was plenty) and walked out after handing in the room key and went to ASDA for breakfast. Would I recommend this hotel, only for demolition!

Worse than expected.....
We stayed as a couple for one night on a B & B basis whilst going to the Channel Tunnel....Paid ¿¿55.00, but thought it was worth about ¿¿30.00 max. The room was very dated and tired, the wallpaper was curling at the corners and the ceiling tiles lifting. The shower came off the wall whilst using it. We booked it as it offers underground parking, however, my husband refused to leave the motorcycle there as there was broken glass on the floor (not a good sign)!!!Wouldn't stay there again, would rather go to a Travel Lodge or Premier Inn.
