Got a great deal, good location but just an ok experience overall.
We stayed here on an awsome package deal for $108 for a balcony view room with breakfast. We had an express check-in. We were offered a $30 upgrade to a honeymoon suite the day before via a call. No such upgrade or knowledge on arrival however (we didn't get charged the extra) the rooms were nice enough so I didn't bother complaining. Rooms are nice and spacious. Beds look comfortable however we woke up with an extremely sore back on all the nights we stayed here. That put a downer on our experience. It's right across from the leagues club and 200mtrs from the nightclub and food strip of Townsville. Breakfast was good and lots of variety. They only have valet parking at $12 per night otherwise you have to park car on street somewhere. Valet parking takes about 20min to get your car so leave time. Overall I might come back accept for the hard beds.

For a Cowboys weekend
After 5.5 hours in a bus so we could watch a 80 minute game of football, the Holiday Inn was very clean and comfortable. Comfortable until I had to go to sleep that night though! Huge hollow in the middle of the bed. View was great and location superb! If you are a Cowboys fan, the Holiday Inn is perfect for you as it is straight across the road from the Cowboys Leagues Club that runs buses every 15 minutes to the game. Disappointed to have absolutely nothing in the mini bar - you need to order anything even softdrink. No chocolates etc that you normally find in there to keep the children happy! Full buffet breakfast was the usual but again disappointed that I wasn't told when I checked through that I could order different eggs rather than the scrambled and Benedict. Had to ask a staff member how I got a different type of egg. Poached eggs were great but the fried was still clucking with clear white swimming around the plate.... Good choice of cereals, juices, fruit and pastries. Reception staff were very pleasant but found breakfast wait staff a bit surly..... and this was before I sent the raw egg back! Townsville markets are fabulous and right outside your door on a Sunday. All in all, average overall but I will still be back purely because of location!

Good Location
Yeah, the outside looks fairly rough, but it is nice inside. The rooms were clean, although not spotless. The beds & pillows really comfy & the bathroom good.The buffet breakfast was reasonable & dinner in the Shiraz restaurant was great.The location is great & due to the buildings height some nice views can be had.The main let down was the lack of car parking. You either have to park a long way & walk or pay for valet parking.Booking a reservation is also a problem, as you can't ring the hotel itself. You have to call a 1800 number & go through a reservation operator.

A good business option
Whilst the outside of this Holiday Inn looks a bit tired, the rooms are recently renovated and very comfortable to stay in. It is a very handy location right in the centre of town. This stay was let down a bit by somewhat varied service. On the plus side when I arrived in the room there was a complimentary bottle of beer on ice and a snack as a recognition of being a Platinum guest. On the not so positive side; as I had booked a rate inclusive of internet I wanted to check with reception how this was applied, unfortunately it took three phone calls over a period of 25 minutes in the early evening before someone at reception actually answered the phone. And after checking on the process, I still had to spend ten minutes at checkout to get internet charges removed from the bill. At the same time I was trying to phone room service and that was equally as difficult to get an answer. When I did get through, the beef curry I ordered was very good.Overall though still a good option for a business (or leisure) stay in Townsville.

Close to shopping mall & dining
Stayed here for 2 nights last week. Right on the Flinders Street with heaps of shops. Woolworth just across the road. Check in quick and easy, rooms okay and as I am a PC Platinum member, got upgraded to Exec Room.2 blocks away from restaurants (Chinese, Thai, Italian, Indian,,,,). Walk across the bridge and you will see lots of pubs and cafes.In room internet is a rip off but you can use free wifi outside the hotel near the shopping mall.Breakfast are the usual stuff. Okay to me.
