Wonderful Stay

Nothing special for the price they charge
My hubby and I stayed here for a night away in June. We checked into our room and we're very disappointed with the size of the room. It simply had a bed, toilet, shower and fridge. No balcony, no spa bath, no where to sit to enjoy a wine and the view. The room we stayed in had a great view of the harbour but we did not get to enjoy the full potential of it as we felt so claustrophobic being in the room. Staff were friendly though and in the hairdressers down stairs the ladies were lovely. Restaurant down stairs has nice food but pricey. Definitely wouldn't recommend the grand chancellor for a romantic getaway.

A welcome surprise
My husband and I stayed for two nights for a conference and we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness, location and modern appearance of the hotel. Most conference hotels tend to be a little dreary and old, but this was a great introduction to Hobart.

Faultless Service
Chose the Grand Chancellor for our four day Hobart break including out trip to Mona. I had called up beforehand and requested a refurbished room to ensure a new bed as have a back injury. With two adults and an eight year old we opted for 2 connected mountain view double rooms and that was perfect. The harbourview rooms are exactly the same except for the view but $100 cheaper .. The view is beautiful but we were very happy as on a higher floor so didn't make so much difference. I was assured that a maid would check on the day to ensure I had one of the newer beds.. And they did exactly as they promised. Not only that at 9pm they knocked on my door with a special latex pillow (I hadn't requested) so this made my day!! Other highlight was the full breakfast and the included valet parking. Situated about 8 mins walk from harbour and Salamanca also made it easy. Room service, restaurant on site and food avail in foyer lunch area all day also great..esp when you need to feed a child quickly. Pool is indoor and small and gym needs a refurbish.. Ie bikes weren't working etc. But overall the service impressed me..Melbourne hotels could learn something here! They also let us keep one of the rooms longer at no charge as I was sick and that meant I could rest till our plane left. 15 mins to Mona and great directions. Thankyou for making it a great stay!!

Right in the heart of Hobart
Arrival impressive reception staff excellent our room was a good size as we shared with our daughter it was well appointed very clean & tidy we had a mountain views but when we walked to the lifts their was a lounge area with fantastic views down the Derwent river made more spectacular by several yachts sailing up the river The Hotel is a short walk from the famous Constitution Dock,Salamanca markets and the city centre and is surrounded by many quality restaurants. Facilities include lovely restaurants & bar Pool & Gym conference rooms and they cater for weddings. The buffet breakfast was one of the best I have had during my many travels in Australia and other city's around south east asia, If you wish to stay at a quality Hotel in Hobart I would recommend the Grand Chancellor
