me and my wife staid in the hotel for 3 nights and it was excellent! the rich design, the attitude of the staff, and the special atmosphere and magic that in this hotel. important tip: make shore to register as member to the omni, its free and it will give you free wifi and coffee to your room in the morning, every morning! excellent location, in California st with the cable car that lead you strait to the port in the west or to chine town in the east. to sumer it up, we will come back!

Great location
We stayed at the Omni at 555 California street for 2 nights, when in town for the ArtPad art show. Beautiful oppulent hotel. Darrel the doorman was the highlight of our visit - extremely helpful, friendly, bending over backwards to take care of us. We experienced a very surly bartender in the bar (lobby level), but otherwise the front desk staff & others were friendly. Room was clean, bed was very comfy, and two free bottles of water in the room.

Top tier business hotel
You should definitely join their loyalty program because it includes free Wi-Fi amongst other things during your stay.The Omni hotel is nestled between Chinatown the financial district just north of Market St. It is about a 20 to 30 min. cab ride from the San Francisco airport depending on time of day. The SuperShuttle will get you there for $17 a taxi runs about $50 and the hotel also has a black car that will take you for $55 -not including tips.The hotel has a traditional elegant style to it. Some will find it boring and others will find it rich and old world. The rooms are on the small side for an upscale hotel but the appointments and furnishings are towards the high-end. The bed was comfortable and the pillow selection more than adequate. There was a nice worktable with adequate power outlets. I was on the 15th floor and the room included an iPod / iPhone dock a reasonably large flatscreen TV and a Nespresso coffee maker. This coffeemaker uses pods and made a surprisingly good cup of coffee but it was only about 4 ounces. The room also had an in room honor bar with a little space inside it if you want to keep some juice or a can of soda of your own. The bathroom is average in size and has only one sink. There was a hair dryer and iron and an in room safe. There was a large comfortable chair with ottoman. There was no excessive noise.There is a small exercise facility. It has six Precor treadmills, three ellipticals, a recumbent bicycle. It has a set of free weights going up to 50 pounds and two benches. It also has six Cybex machines that are very dated. Six machines is clearly not enough to do circuit training. As noted the exercise facility was small but there was always at least one treadmill available. There are also towels, water, and a selection of newspapers including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Financial Times. The elevators are slow and over subscribed when the hotel is busy. It typically took about 3 min. for an elevator to arrive during the morning or during breaks during a meeting. If you're the type of person that likes to rush up to their room during a 15 min. break you should take this into consideration.The in room Wi-Fi that you get through the loyalty program does not work in any of the conference rooms or the ballroom and my Verizon phone did not work either. This means that you must get a password for the conference room Wi-Fi from whoever is managing your conference.The area around the hotel seem safe to walk about. You can find small convenience stores and other types of stores by walking towards Chinatown. The staff is friendly, professional and outgoing without being obsequious.

Our New Favorite!
This is a wonderful property in a great location at a great price with the absolute best staff. The hotel is perfectly located right in between the Financial District, Embarcadero and Chinatown. Union Square and North Beach are just a few blocks away. The hotel is a legitimate 4 star hotel with a beautiful lobby and very nicely appointed rooms. The price is very reasonable especially given the quality. But what sets this hotel apart is their staff. From the moment you approach the front door they make you feel like they genuinely care about you. This is our new favorite place to stay in San Francisco.

great hotel, beautiful lobby, friendly staff, good location
I had a nice stay at the Omni. Quiet rooms that are on the spacious side, spotless bathrooms, comfortable beds, nice towels and high thread count sheets. Good water pressure in the shower.Location was a short walk from the Ferry Building, Market Street, SFMOMA and Chinatown. I'd be happy to stay here on a future visit to San Francisco.
