A comfortable Dunedin option
We turned up at the Scenic Hotel Southern Cross, thinking that's where we were staying, but discovered we'd been booked into this one, up the road a bit on the opposite side. It's more modern and the beds are just as comfortable and the staff just as helpful. Only sampled the wine list, so can't comment on any dining options, but did enjoy the small touches such as the newspaper pushed right under the door as opposed to being left outside the room. That may be because of the size of the paper.. Excellent location and handy and quick valet parking.

Love that king bed
We stayed overnight on our way back to Christchurch.Our room was large, warm and had one of the best beds we have ever slept on.Bathroom was spacious and shower worked a treat, with a removable shower head great for a thorough hair wash for the ladies.Very good Internet connection choice available and reasonably priced. We also chose valet car park.Just a few minutes walk to the Octogon, which is very buzzy, lots of bars, restaurants etc.Breakfast bar is fab, delicious fruits, muesli and full English style hot breakfast.Friendly staff.Thanks Luke for looking after us.

Enjoyable weekend
We had a very enjoyable stay at the Scenic Hotel, Dunedin. Very clean rooms, good heating and polite helpful staff. We were especially impressed that the day we left we were able to leave our bags and our car for while we went down the road. This was no trouble for the staff. Thanks John and Jackie

Good and bad location
Great location as 3 mins walk to the Octagon. Bad location as spill out from the Octagon during the early hours is hard to ignore. Double glazing to the road side is a facade. Great idea but no added acoustics. Sleep well or you will be kept awake by the drunkards, bottle banging, vehicles etc.The rooms are large and well appointed and bathrooms good also.The restaurant menu reads very well and gets the taste buds buzzing....but the quality doesn't stack up. It's nice but average quality. Ask the night service to deliver your chowder as soon as it is served as there are no microwaves in the room!Will stay again without doubt as very central.

Excellent hotel
Our family of five stayed here for one night in connecting rooms. The rooms were modern, very clean and the beds were very comfy. The breakfast was usual hotel fare but was of a very good standard. All the staff we came across were very professional and pleasant. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
