Red Zone Hotel
I recently stayed at the Rendezvous after it was forced to close for 2+ years due to the Christchurch earthquakes. The hotel was virtually brand new at the time of the earthquakes and it still has that 'new smell'. The hotel has been able to re open due to parts of the 'red zone' being open to the public. The hotel is nice but is really in a 'ghost town' right now. It was quite 'wiry' looking out the window at the shells of buildings or open lots. The hotel was nice but rooms very small. So small in fact that my room did not even have a closet. I ordered dinner via room service and the menu was very limited and the food barely warm when it arrived. I liked the hotel and will give it a break as they have just re opened and will need to iron out a few kinks. I think their biggest issue will be the fact that they are a 22 floor building in a city that has just experienced a major earthquake. Will people be ready to stay in a high rise. Christchurch needs more accommodation right now so I will continue to support the Rendezvous.

new opportunity
great oppornity going begging Saff lacked continuity, facilities not promoted ( still wondering what the menu entailed in the restaurant )as no mention was made of it the compendium in the DINNING section !!!!! yes thats how it was spelt! no bible, Our deluxe room was tiny by any at standards . Only one bath robe ! when one was showering the hot tap in the hand basin could not be turned on as this effected the shower temperature ! Signage showing which direction your room is when exiting the lift showed room in other direction ! Concierge offered no information on whats happening in the city what attractions are still going etc. THis hotel is missing the basics and given that there is not alot of choice in accomodation in christchurch maybe they just don't care

Congratulations on A Successful New Hotel
I and two colleagues stayed last night for business meetings in the city.The stay was great, largely because of the excellent attentive service from all of the staff. They surely are proud of their new hotel and we eager to please. Thank you.The hotel room was very comfortable and warm, especially as we had a frost outside. The view of the city from the rooms is stunning, and worth a visit for that reason alone. The room was well provisioned with everything a business traveller would want ... great shower and bathroom, iron and ironing board that is fresh, really comfortable new bed, desk and internet. Breakfast in the cafe was nice, well priced and cooked to order. The whole experience was top notch and well priced ... excellent value. You guys have our repeat business when we return.Thank you ... you should be proud of your efforts.Phil

Excellent value for money - great location
It was bang in the middle of Christchurch and we could walk almost anywhere we liked. I am not sued to valet parking so founf that a bit odd but they always had our car ready for us if we let them know 5 to 10 minutes in advance. The reception staff were great and the room was very modern. We really loved it. We did not try the restaurant but it looked interesting. I liked the little fire place in the foyer. Nice touch

Great location, excellent staff
Lovely hotel, very modern, comfortable decor. Rooms are small but not claustrophobic and ventilation is good. Rooms are quiet. Plenty of hot water with good water pressure. Elevators are slow! Restaurant is nice and the breakfast buffet is good; other restaurants and cafes are very close by, as are landmarks such as the cathedral. The siteseeing trolley line runs next to the hotel. Staff was extremely helpful and accomodating - additional services, such as dry cleaning were reasonably priced and efficient.
