My wife and I spent only one night after our wedding day, we arrived a bit late but the front desk staff check us in quickly. We love the lobby bar, it is so beautiful and unique.Large and quiet room with a massive bathroom, come with modern room amenities. It's a great experience and won't hesitate to recommend :)

ServiceIf you aren't familiar with the area it is a bit hard to tell where you are supposed to park as there isn't an entry as such. I just pulled up at the front (double parked) and staff came straight out to valet park our car ($40). Check in/check out was efficient. WaterBar service was friendly but very slow.Hotel/LocationPerfect location on the wharf and close to the city. Restaurants along the Pier, pub and cafes across the road. Petrol station and bottle shop across the road as well. The Blue building is just beautiful and is definately 5 star. RoomsRooms are definately not 5 star. They are okay but a bit tired looking and our room had quite a few stains on the carpet. Bathrooms are nice and big but looks like the door had been put on the shower the wrong way. You have to get into the shower to turn it on, so you get hit with cold water before it warms up. I think the little things count to say you are 5 star. They give you Peter Morrissey (fashion designer) amenities - they are lovely but Peter now designs for Big W - not 5 star.Sleep/NoiseOh my goodness - I was awake most of the night as the rooms get all the noise from the pub across the road and the traffic. Surely they could use some soundproof glass in the windows and implement other acoustic measures. It felt like we were sleeping on the road. They are the cheapest rooms in the hotel but for over $300 per night I expect more than that. I think we had a Loft room next door and the loft part was over our bathroom. I was in the shower and I thought my husband had turned on the TV. He hadn't - it was next door and we got to listen to their music channel along with the floor creaking when they walked and we could hear the child crying. We were awake but as we had been awake most of the night it would have been nice to not have this extra noise. OverallGreat position and the hotel is really beautiful - maybe other rooms are alot better. I wouldn't stay again though.

The building and location are great. A minute or so to the botanic gardens and a very pleasant 15 minute to all the best touristy bits of Sydney. The nearby restaurants, particularly those on the wharf, are very nice if pricey.Unfortunately we stayed on a Saturday night, when there was a reception in the bar area. Noise travels very easily in such a big space and everything that previous reviewers have said is true. Fortunately we always travel with ear plugs, so it wasn't a particularly big problem when we did want to sleep.We stayed in one of the better deluxe loft rooms on the top floor - room 542. The layout was quirky and the architect had done what he could within the listed building regulations. Unfortunately the room was tired and dirty with peeling paint and window film in the bathroom; stained wall paint, upholstery and carpet in the living areas.Also worth a mention: the bed was reasonably comfortable, but if a really comfortable bed in a great location is your priority check out the Shangri La on The Rocks!

Stayed here for two nights having stayed with friends in Sydney. Great place to relax and unwind. Very helpful staff. Strange licensing laws due to the fact there are residential apartments also in the complex so no late night cap. But this is only two days a week. Great choice of restaurants on the same pier with the ability to back charge to the hotel. A nice touch. Russell Crowe lives at the end of the complex...
