Friendly and comfortable
It is always a pleasure to be greeted by friendly staff, which I was. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is well located. I found the Diamant to be excellent value for money.Later in the evening you might want to turn left rather than right at the Darlingtonhurst Rd intersection but in the end you are far enough from the seedy bit of the cross for it not to impact your stay (unless you want a big night out).

Clean and well located
Look, this is not a 5 star hotel, but could be 3/4. Perfect for business, and for people on vacation. There are no frills, but it was comfortable clean and the staff very friendly. Managed to get a great deal combined with the flight on ebookers, so all in all I was very happy with this.As a suggestion to the staff, there wasn't enough light in the evening to work at the desk and there's no desk light. Also there was no room safe, so I had to carry too much round with me. The area is next to kings cross, which is not the best place to be, but if you go in the opposite direction down darlingshurst road, then there are plenty of eateries and bars. I particularly liked the tropicana cafe, although portion sizes were massive. It also has some good history with its own film awards.

Night stay
Outstanding location if exploring Kings Cross/ Darlinghurst or going into town or Eastern suburbs. Excellent service from all staff. On check in room key did not work, and we quickly were moved. Rooms are spacious and well laid out. Would stay again if in area.

Expect more from a "boutique" hotel
When it comes to expensive hotels I expect certain things as standard. So, let me start with the positives: Location of hotel was excellent, walk most places & a quick cab/train ride into the cbd only 5mins away. Staff were courteous and engaging. Room size was large, with a large TV. Courtyard size was excellent. We were able to check-in early (10am!!). I liked the option of having the mini-bar contents removed so we could place our own drinks in the fridge. Bed was comfortable & the room was clean.Now for the negatives (keeping in mind the price you pay per night): Parking, wow, there are only about 6 spaces in an 'extremely' tight and small area. Get there early! Speaking of the mini-bar, ours didn't work. We advised reception when we first arrived, however, nothing was done. The toilet paper was the cheapest sand-paper they could get. You do get Foxtel, however, only about 5 channels and "no" foxsports. Half of the courtyard lights didnt work. The air-con rattled. Toilet flush worked - intermittently. Cheap coffee/facility (we stayed at the Mecure-Sydney only the week before, for half the rate & they had an nespresso machine!). Overall, we would not recommend this hotel.

mildew in showers
Let me start by saying that the staff was very nice. The rooms however had little to be desired. The rooms are VERY dark. Black everything, I'm assuming to cover the dirt. The showers had mold. The room smelled musty. I would not recommend this hotel.
