I actually got married at the Grand Chancellor a few weeks ago so some may say I'm a little bias but we thoroughly enjoyed our overall experience. We were given the spa suit on the top floor and the only thing I could fault was the shower head which wouldn't switch from bath tap to shower. I rang the operator to get it fixed and as I was in a rush to get ready for dinner I went down to my parents room to have a quick shower leaving my husband in our room, maintenance came and it was fixed before I got back. Crisis averted! I had many encounters with staff from different areas of the hotel in preparation for the wedding. I cannot even to begin to explain how amazing Dominique the event planner was such a shame she's gone now! :( The concierge guys were always lovely whenever I had to pop in for a meeting. People are complaining about the retro rooms but remember they are in the middle of renovations and these things take time I believe it's only the top 10 floors done so far. We had guests staying on many different floors of the hotel and I went and visited lots of them and no one complained about anything.We had a big group dinner at Hanlan's restaurant the night before and it was nice. The staff were friendly even ringing me a few days before to confirm numbers and check how I wanted it all paid for. We also had breakfast there which was good too it is a great space now that it is renovated.If anything the big lines at check in/out was a little annoying so maybe a few more staff at the super busy times on popular days wouldn't go astray. Otherwise I had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel it has a great location for whatever kind of holiday you are after.

We had a very pleasant week here. The refurbished rooms are excellent. The location of this hotel is very convenient being very close to Cavill Avenue and the beach. Parking at $15 per night is reasonable for the area. The swimming pool area is well maintained and the restaurant serves a variety of good food. Overall, we would recommend this hotel.

Not what I expected. Stayed in a twin room where both beds smelt like urine. There is mould on the bathroom tiles and on the walls. Not healthy for a woman who is pregnant, i.e. me. The sink is worn. The bathroom door has had many holes filled in and the paint is terrible. The carpet is dirty. Human hair balls on a blanket which I had to call Helpdesk for because they never provided any. The shower head was so dangerous for a pregnant woman. It didn't work properly and came out like a fire hose. You couldn't have a shower in it. Had to report this TWICE for it to be fixed. They didn't fix it the first time I asked. I had to report it to the manager for something to be done. Really disappointing when the hotel rates itself so highly. It's not worth the money. It's dirty and its a health risk.

Perfect location for people wanting to stay close to the heart of Surfers Paradise.We had an ocean view room on a high level and I could get used to that view :) The room had everything myself and my partner wanted.The only thing I can say was negative was the reception staff, I didn't get a smile or anything during check-in and out - but that's the only thing I can fault about this hotel.

We stayed in a refurbished room which was excellent value for the price paid. It had pleasant furnishings and a well equipped bathroom and although we did not have a sea view the small balcony was a pleasant place to chill for a while.We didn't use the restaurant and the pool was nothing special, but this hotel is in a great central location and for a short stay provided everything we needed (including a small gym which hotels twice the price didn't have).I thought $15 for parking next door was reasonable.
