Water Pressure Limites an Otherwise Good Experience
A quality hotel with terrific services, facilities and service; and is well positioned just on the immediate fringe of the city (everything is a 10 - 15 minute walk away).Staff are very good although perhaps a little bit over officious at the expense of warmth. Facilities such as saunas and gym are good but the pool and spa are a bit small. not really in the sun and only 4 sun lounges. You wouldn't stay here if you wanted to kick back in the sun around a pool for several hours each day.The presentation of the hotel, its foyer, restaurant, lefts, etc, is first class.Beds are good and they offer a selection of pillows. Just fantastic.Breakfasts are good offering everything you could really want for breakfast from a buffet (ie there has to be a limit with buffets).The hotel is well lifted and despite not having a service lift works well with the staff leaving lifts to guests were ever possible.The one draw back was the cold water pressure. While all the facilities and service is nice, the most important is the quality of sleep and the shower (SSI = Sleep & Shower Index). There was plenty of hot water and hot water pressure but limited cold. So while you have the potential for a hot shower with good water pressure you would need to scold yourself. You have to wind the hot water back so much to get a mix of cold and hot that the water pressure becomes very poor. The rooms were quiet and appear well sound proofed from other rooms BUT not the hall way. While we had a great nights sleep we were woken early by a young child crying on the hall way.The bathroom was large and clean. Not really 4 star and the shower was on the smaller size. The bed was great, as discussed there is a pillow selection, great black out blinds, bar fridge, air-conditioning was good, TV good (but could do with some more channels), noise suppression would have been good except for the hall noise; so quite good except for the showers cold water pressure!SSI suffers from the water pressure for a 7 out of 10.The hotel, as is all in Perth, is expensive during the week but reasonable on the weekend for a hotel of this quality. Assuming that the water pressure is a one off or individual room problem, subject to room rates at anyone time, this hotel is worth perhaps a 20% premium to other say 4 star hotels in a comparable location. At the right price we would stay here again.

A memorable stay!
An excellent value one night stay - considering the inclusion and it being central in Perth.My partner and I stayed in a Club King, giving us access to the club lounge. Check in: had booked the previous night over the phone, although when we arrived our reservation had apparently been made for a week ahead. Nevertheless, this was sorted quickly and courteously.Having tried a similar arrangement at a number of hotels throughout Asia, we were thoroughly impressed with the Duxton's Club Lounge. There was a menu from which we could choose a number of excellent quality wines (not standard house wines) as well as a good selection of canap¿¿s. Breakfast was decent.Club King rooms are very, very generous in size and even the north facing city-view rooms, with a view over St Mary's Cathedral are beautiful at night and early morning. One of the quietest hotels we have stayed at in Perth, even at 80% occupancy. The ability to play music through a built in sound system, and the addition of an iPod dock, rather than just through the television or other methods was thoughtful and much appreciated. Lovely Peter Morrissey toiletries in the bathroom, although there wasn't much by way of water pressure in the shower.We didn't dine at Firewater Grille for dinner, only dessert. This was truly memorable as not only was the honeycomb cr¿¿me brulee absolutely delicious - my partner proposed during the meal. Given he had not provided wait staff (or myself) any kind of forewarning, I was so touched by how gently and personally they handled the evening. Unforgettable!

Top notch!
I have stayed in several really good hotels in Perth but have to say that the Duxton is by far the best overall experience. Staff were friendly and provided a level of service that was better than a few 5 star hotels i know. the concierge was especially helpful even at 3:00 am when i left for an early flight. I will make this place my first choice in future without hesitation.

Suite Deal!
We were on honeymoon and my husband booked the 'suite deal' which included access to the club lounge for canap¿¿s and drinks each evening. This was great. The club lounge has lovely views over the river to South Perth. The suite was good, the only slight downer was that we were next to the lifts and their noise but I only noticed that occasionally. The room was modern, stylish and very clean. Breakfast was fantastic. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful, particularly Brian who recommended and booked a great restaurant for us- Coco's.

Great hotel in Perth
We stayed 2 nights at the Duxton hotel recently and we were very pleased with our stay. The location of the hotel was very central. The room was on the 7th floor and was very spacious and clean with a really comfortable king size bed. The bathroom was very large with a bath as well as a shower and there was Peter Morrissey toiletries. The breakfast was excellent, with a huge array of food available from fresh fruit and yoghurt, cereals, cheeses, smoked salmon, to cooked eggs, bacon and asian stir fries. The staff were courteous and very professional and even allowed us a late checkout. We got a good deal with the Entertainment book paying $211 per room per night which included breakfast. Perth accommodation does seem to be expensive, so I thought this price was good compared to other hotels I had checked. You do get charged $40 a day for parking your car but this seems to be across the board with most of Perth's accommodation. I would definitely recommend the Duxton Hotel.
