A few years ago, we booked in this same hotel but was disappointed with the condition of the room i.e. toilet was not properly clean, the air-con is extremely dirty and noisy, bathroom is so small, the room is also small and narrow not enough space to move around. When we arrived in Melbourne after more than 24 hours journey from London, we have trouble finding accommodation in the middle of the city (a last minute decision) so we decided to take a chance hoping that we'll end up in a better room. Firstly, we needed a day or two to rest and relax before heading to our next destination interstate. Of course, we were not disappointed, it's much better than last time. The bathroom is clean and renovated, the twin beds in the room I guess is okay; the room has: a desk and chair, iron/ironing board, small fridge and kettle to make coffee, toiletries this time was provided. We were on the top floor (7F) and did not think that the next day early morning, there will be some tradespeople working just outside the window. Our dream of staying in bed longer evaporated and was forced to go out instead at 9 a.m. The noise is unbearable hammering so close to our room. Internet: No wireless internet in the room but you can use a cable (in our case it doesn't fit with our MacBook air), it cost you $5 for half an hour. Luggage: Storage is not free and you can store your luggage in a locker on the Ground Floor on the right side behind the reception and cost you $7.50 for 24 hours.

Its a good 3 star Hotel, old but renovated. No more nor less. Excelent Location, in the hart of the City. Good room, clean with a decent bathroom. No wireless in the rooms, and even the one in the Lobby isnt free, what is a really stupid. expansive to use Internet in the Hotel, quite an inconvenience. You also have to pay to store your luggage for extra time, so be prepared to pay some extra for These Little things.

For the price, the hotel is clean. However, the rooms are a rabbits warren and with no porter service you are left to wander around through corridors trying to find your place. There is not enough insulation between rooms, so you can hear everything going on in the halls around you quite clearly. For me this was rather annoying given the person next to me was going in and out of their room all night.

I was recently doing some travelling on my own in Melbourne but I am a little too old & used to my creature comforts for a back packers but still wanted to keep within a budget. This hotel was perfect for me. Excellent location, rooms as spacious and spotless. I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for romance or luxury. But for solo's or weekend away with friends ideal

Stayed in the Hotel 20 years agao and said I woudl never stay in it again However 20 years is a long time and things have certainly changed. Solid rooms - nothing special but all good for what I need with a great reception area and lunge area. If you are not expecting too much then this is a good hotel at reasonable price in a very good location.
