Good but flawed.
This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel in 4 years. The first time, I loved it, hence my return. The place is looking really tired. There is no soundproofing and therefore expect to be awake at 5 am every morning. The main reason we booked was due to the self catering facilities and the in room washer/dryer. After having travelled extensively prior to our stay, we welcomed the opportunity to wash and dry without the need for hanging out at a laundromat. The washing machine worked fine but the dryer did not. The girl at the front counter was apologetic and took our clothes and dried them for us. We asked to be shifted to a room with a working dryer as we were staying five days. For the first three days they were apparently booked solid and could not accommodate our request. On the fourth day our change was granted and we came home from site seeing to find that all our belongings had been moved to another room. A lovely thought, though we were not told that this would happen. The new room was a different layout and had a spa which was nice. No dishwasher though. It also had electric venetians which were quirky but unnecessary. Apparently we had been upgraded to a deluxe suite. The ipod docking station did not work and there wasn't a spare toilet roll so when we ran out after hours, the nearly empty box of tissues had to be used. Upon checkout, we had been charged $175 extra for the privilege of the deluxe suite. My partner had to negotiate the rate back down to our original quote. For 5 nights accommodation we paid on average, $250 per night. Ok it was Easter but for what it was, you could do better elsewhere and our friends did just that. Parking is apparently on a first in best dressed system, even though when we booked we told them that we would require parking for the entire five nights. We only had parking for three nights and as such, had to constantly monitor where our car was parked as all the on street parking was metered.The location and view can't be beaten but its a high price to pay for tired, broken and noisy accommodation.The service was excellent though, when reception was open.

Great spot
Our 5 nights at zero davey were great. The location right on the waterfront is exceptional. Stay on the Hunter St side as Davey St is a major road though Hobart and noisy. Our studio was very comfortable the only small thing I would say is a sofa would be a good addition as the existing seating is not very comfortable. Restaurants, city, Salamanca all at your door. Highly recommend the Timeless Way for breakfast which is virtually next door to Henry Jones Art Hotel, which is a few doors down. A nice hotel overlooking the harbour and a very enjoyable stay in beautiful Hobart.

Good location, but service lacking
We were actually looking for a regular hotel room, but it seems that many hotels in Australia include some sort of cooking facilities. Therefore, we were disappointed to find that the front desk had limited hours when we called down to claim our one hour of free Wi-fi per day. We were also unhappy because we reported that the air conditioner was dripping water, but no one ever came to fix it, even the next day. The location was great, however, and the accomodations were satisfactory.

Superb apartment with view to match
We stayed in the Davey penthouse which had 3 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms. It was very spacious with a superb kitchen with all the appliances you could need. The views from the lounge, kitchen and master bedroom were over the harbour and sea.There were plenty of towels, toiletries, washing machine/dryer, ironing board and iron, ipod dock, mini hifi and full kitchen facilities.Definitely recommended and in a good location for the harbour and restaurants/bars, close to Salamanca market and the cbd. In room massage service available and also a small gym at the hotel (treadmill, bike, stepper and weights bench). Car parking on site included with one of the 2 penthouse apartments.

Perfect central location on harbour.
Ideal location within walking distance to Salamanca place, restaurants, city and parks. Tasman apartment was perfect for our group if 6 and plenty of room and verandahs with views if the mountains and city.
