Does the job
Overall average, room was spacious a bit outdated, comfortable bed, bathroom has shower over bath, in-room dining not a huge selection but the food was ok, however average price on mains being 30 dollars you may as well go to one of the restaurants in town for better quality and a better range. Also room service breakfast after ordered arrived in 15mins and was cold so it seemed as if it was not freshly made, had no time to waste so just had to zap it in the microwave otherwise would have sent it back. My overall feeling is this hotel is best suited for business travellers which I'm sure would be their biggest market.

Exceeded expectations
Rooms spacious and quiet. Room service food good. Meeting facilities are just what I needed. Staff helpful and friendly. Location is excellent, close to Canberra Centre and new eating joints in Braddon.The best bit was the shower, no water saving device meant I didn't have to run around to get wet. Handy on a cold Canberra morning.It is very good for what it is.

Very comfortable and convenient to CBD
Stayed at the Mantra for two days in April with my wife; a combination of business and yearly shopping trip to the capital. In almost every respect this is quite an excellent property: quick and efficient check-in; a large comfortable room with all the usual amenities; excellent breakfast choices at comparable prices to other Canberra hotels.Our only disappointment was in the quality of the bed. I should have known better, but accepted a king bed room. Not uncommonly, this was what I would call "industrial grade" without any mattress top layer, and so we both had uncomfortable sleeps.But everything else was good to excellent, and the trip was overall a success. I would definitely stay at the Mantra again for its convenience and quality combined, but ask for single/queen beds in the hope of avoiding the problem of sleeping on an unforgiving mattress.

All you need :)
I stayed at the Mantra twice in the last month and am generally VERY happy. The rooms are spacious, the staff are friendly and helpful, the parking is convenient (although I think the parking should be complimentry), handy location (about 1 block from the city centre on the main street leading in to Canberra). The buffet breakfast is plentiful and serves you well throughout the day. And the qaulity of the food at the restaurant and room service dinner was excellent. The only negative was the air conditioning - very noisy! But it works. and definately wasn't enough to turn me off and we got used to the noise and were able to sleep. I would go back :)

Great Wedding Reception Venue
Very helpful, great prices, friendly staff. I would definitely recommend the Mantra on Northbourne to anyone wanting somewhere to have a wedding reception. The food at the reception was very nice, guests where happy. The functions organiser was amazing! She made me feel like I had nothing to worry about and that's exactly what you need when planning a wedding, especially your own. Overall very happy.
