just a mediocre four-star hotel
We stayed there for four nights. Great location, very close to shopping, dinning and attractions. We literally walked from the hotel to the Opera House and the CBD area. The room we stayed was quite cozy and we did not hear a thing from the street. We all slept pretty well.However, the concierge staff were not very friendly and helpful. When we arrived at the hotel, there were about three or four bell boys at the entrance, but none of them came to us to help us with the luggage and we had to take our luggage ourselves. We had four big suitcases and especially, my 73 year-old grandmother was with us and she needed to carry her own luggage. Also, every time when we passed the lobby, we always saw the concierge staff chatting without noticing and greeting the passing hotel guests. I believe a four-star hotel representing the Australian hotel brand and hospitality could do way better than this.

Okay Really
Would actually rate this as 'Good'. The room sizes are fine and relatively up-to-date. The beds are very comfortable so for some quality sleep time this place was great. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Not too sure about it location though, I suppose it depends what you are in town for. If you want to get to the harbour for some touristy stuff try a 10 minute walk to Darling then jump on a ferry to the Quay.

Disappointed
I've stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years due to its proximity to what I needed to do and have never been disappointed with the hotel or service until my last trip. Welcome and check in was quite good as I got there at around 9:00 PM. However the room itself was a little disappointing, The lighting was very average and in the morning only after taking a shower, found no bath towels in the room. Thanks God for a bath mat. Housekeeping left a little to be desired leaving paper wrappers on the floor (not from my visit). My disappointment became more as a week after I returned home I received a letter from the Hotel with an account for items used from the minibar, when I actually had nothing. To their credit this has since been credited to my credit card. I plan on finding another hotel for my next trip to Sydney.

Very good hotel in CBD
I come to Sydney quite often on business and work from the top end of Pitt Street, so Rydges is very conveniently located for me. It also happens to be a very good hotel which makes it my first choice when selecting a hotel.The beds are super comfortable, and the king rooms quite spacious. The rooms I have stayed in have always been very clean and all of the appliances have worked.The staff are always very pleasant and are very willing to offer dining suggestions outside of the hotel¿¿¿s restaurant ¿¿¿ which serves very good food.As noted by one reviewer, the only down side is that the lighting in the rooms is poor. I like a lot of light and they could certainly add a few extra lights into each room.

Great
Great location , normal room size , huge tv. ,nice shower , staff were very friendly , mono rail on door step , nice lobby as well , when back in Sydney I would stay here again , pillows and bed were great , the guys at the desk helped with all our days activities and were helpful with maps and how to get places , rooms were tidy and cleaned well
