Great stay
The rooms was great, though we upgraded for an extra 30 bucks a night and it was worth it. The bathrooms were great, we never waited for more than 30 seconds for a elevator and it was almost always empty. The location was great. I cant complain about anything.

Good with the Potential to be Great!
I went to NYC never having bee before and not knowing anyone, I stayed for 3 weeks and the King and Grove. during the day I was at work, and in the evening I was free to do as I please. I often found myself at the hotel bar talking to other guests. a very friendly environment. but I must state that this was solely due to the bar tender named Louis, I've travelled to many different places, but I have NEVER met a bar tender as sociable and personal as Louis. even the days I didn't buy a drink! I told him my name once which he never forgot! he made my stay very comfortable and always knew the right places to send me for a client dinner or just for drinks. I think the hotel owe him a lot! and should not let him go.The hotel as a whole fell short as I've paid a lot less for hotels and always have a mini bar or at least a bottle of water in the room.The front entrance is not really disabled friendly but I was told that they are working on this. so for the moment wheelchair users need to use the rear entrance. was surprised to fine that there was no room service either.the free Wifi was great specially as I was there for work and constantly had e-mail coming in. Room Servicing team were brilliant they even rang me a couple of times just to see that everything was OK and that I had all the fresh towels I needed.

So much potential
Great central location. Beautiful building. Modern decor. Despite these very important qualities, King & Grove NYC will never reach it's full potential as a destination hotel due to poor customer service. The other hotels that I generally stay at were either booked or the rates were sky high, so I researched and found a great deal at King & Grove. The hotel appeared to be everything that I look for in a boutique hotel, so I booked it for $359 per night for 5 nights. I've never written a bad review in my life, but after just paying $2K to sleep in a hotel with so many issues, I had to vent as soon as I got home.First, the good. The beds at King and Grove are very comfortable and the heavy double shades black out the light, so we slept well.But....1) We (two 120 lb. women) arrived curbside with five 50 lb. bags (for a trade show) and no one to assist with getting them up the 10 stairs into the building. After managing to schlep them in, there was no bellman or carts for assistance. We lugged all of that luggage down a long corridor with two staff people watching as we struggled to get to them to check-in. Poor first impression, but willing to forgive thinking since it was 1:30 and check-in wasn't until 3 and the receptionist was very friendly instantly finding a connection to talk with us about. 2) Checked-in and was told that our room would be ready shortly and suggested a restaurant across the street for lunch and it would be done when we got back. He even told us to mention the hotel and we'd get a discount. We did and there was no discount and the room was not ready upon our return. We were told to wait and it would be ready in 15 minutes. We opted to go shopping instead. When we returned 3 hours later the room was still not ready even though it was 6:30 p.m. and were apologized to for the delay but told that it would still be another hour! We were offered 2 free drinks at the bar and within 10 minutes told that our room was ready. We took our drinks to the room and immediately tried to connect to the free hotel wi-fi.3) The wi-fi wouldn't connect, so I called the desk and were asked to hold for IT. The IT guy asked questions about our computer and said he would send up an ethernet while he troubleshot the problem. Within a few minutes, a man not in the hotel uniform, knocked at the door. It was someone with a cord. I told the IT guy on the phone that the cord had been delivered and he just said "ok, a lot of rooms in that building don't get service. We don't really know why." That was fine for a laptop, but I had only brought my iPad so it did me no good. I was in town for business and could only work from my phone. I would never expect a "quality boutique" hotel in NYC in 2013 to not have wi-fi service. 4) I bought flowers for a meeting and used the in-room ice bucket as a vase until the next morning. The water filled bucket and the two drink glasses from our first night sat on the counter from Saturday and were still there when we checked out. Housekeeping never took them from our room in 5 days!5) The room was small (as advertised), but the reservationist at the hotel had suggested that we get two doubles rather than a king room because that room was 350 sq. ft. rather than 250 and was just a little bit more money. When the reservation confirmation email came, it said 250 sq. ft. so I called and was told that the only larger rooms were much more money, so we stuck with what was booked. The bedroom area was wall-to-wall beds, but the bathroom was even smaller. I literally had to turn sideways to move between the sink and toilet and there was no where to sit anything down. 6) The room window might as well have been open. The heavy shades literally blew from the wind and the street noise was as clear as if those garbage trucks and sirens were in our room. 7) We left 3 of our five large bags in storage for 24 hours on the first and last day of our trip.
