Sometimes in life you get what you pay for and sometimes you get less
Positives - It was like being on a movie set - they were filming a remake of Psycho, while I was there, apparently episodes of Fringe and The Killing have been filmed there. Negatives - Sometimes in life you get what you pay for and sometimes you get less. This certainly applies to the Lake City Motor Inn Hotel. If you can afford it stay at one of the other more highly rated tripadvisor hotels/motels, if not some advice. Bring a sleeping bag, ear plugs, air freshener and your own shower gel. The reasons you need all these items will become apparent after your first night.

Very poor quality
Bed not made, window on ground floor room left wide open, dog in room next door not controlled as was barking loud at 5;30 am each morning and hot tub not working each of the 4 days we stayed and never again.

Convenient in Burnaby
Great location if your travels take you visiting friends or family in the Burnaby area. The inn has two exits - use Broadway if travelling east and the Lougheed Hwy if going west.Front desk was helpful and the room was spacious and everything worked.The free WiFi was fast. Beds were comfortable.Not luxurious but made a good base.

I'll rethink this hotel next time.
Upon check in without reservation, the clerk advised me that nightly rate was $135. ( I mentally compare the room/experience to lower end motels in someplace like Prince George with a price tag of $70-80, not the Sheraton Wall Centre Downtown whose rates were $148 per night last December.) Thankfully, the fact that it was a work trip dropped the price down to $92.Room was extremely dated, but clean, and I was thankful of having the option of washing a load of laundry. The motel is a stone's throw from skytrain (public transport) not too much else in the direct walking vicinity. The high point was the night clerk who was potentially the cheeriest person I had met on the entire trip.

Great Value
We stayed here for 5 days and found it to be a very pleasant stay. Fairly clean and very reasonabley price for the 2 bdrm. Not noisey at all. The staff is super nice and I enjoyed chatting with them. It is an older inn so there is some wear in our suite, but overall it was not as bad as some of the reviews I have read. We did go to breakfast. It is too bad the kitchen is not open for like a buffet lunch/dinner. The kitchen insuite is not very well stocked(pots/pans etc.). But all said and done we would more that likely use it again if we needed to.
