Affordable Luxury in Downtown Vancouver
My wife and I had planned a two week cruise to Alaska, embarking and disembarking in Vancouver, BC during late May/early June 2013. As a consequence, we were looking for a hotel in downtown Vancouver for a two night stay before and after the cruise. After much searching of the Internet, and taking account of what tripadvisor had to say about L'Hermitage, we decided to go ahead and book. One of the best decisions I have made in recent times. On arrival we were advised that we had been upgraded to the Signature Suite which was very nice. This suite comprises separate living room and bedroom with a fully fitted kitchen to enable you to cook your own meals if you were so inclined. Full laundry facilities are also included in the shape of a separate washer and tumble dryer, which my wife loved. The standard of the accommodation and facilities is definitely 5 star at what I would say were 3/4 star prices. The hotel does include an outside lap pool for swimming and an outside patio if the weather is good. There is a modern, fully equipped gym, steam room and changing room for the gym bunnies and a library and office facility for the business traveller. You can have breakfast at the hotel for about $20 CAD each, however, being a canny Scotsman, my wife and I dined at a nearby restaurant for breakfast for about $7CAD each.On our return to the hotel after the cruise, we were given a Boutique Suite, which was what I had booked. This suite has no laundry facilities, which was not a problem since my wife had worn out the Laundry on the ship. It has no cooking facilities, however, the bedroom and bathroom were much bigger than the Signature Suite. The bath is huge and the beautiful shower is big enough for a barn dance - all clad in marble! The housekeeping staff are inconspicuous, however, their standard of work is great. The front desk staff and the Concierge are friendly and can't do enough for you. The free wifi is available in your suite and after two weeks in the wilderness of Alaska, a godsend! There were some very helpful comments on tripadvisor about the ongoing construction work right across the road from the front of the hotel which caused me to ask for a room at the rear of the property during our first two day stay. This was honoured, however, I have to say it was not an issue since we're out for most of the day and by 5pm weekdays, all construction had stopped. During our second stay it was not an issue since we were there at the weekend.I cannot praise this Hotel enough, and when my wife and I come back to Vancouver, which we will undoubtedly do, we will once again visit L'Hermitage.

Didn't want to leave!
We spent a week in a one bedroomed suite and just loved it. Everything was thought of, including washing detergent. We were a little concerned after booking as we then read about the construction site on Richard Street, however we were not really bothered by it even though we were directly facing the site. The hotel is extremely well insulated and we didn't even hear noise from fellow guests. The suite was amazing, with a state of the art kitchen, entrance hall, sitting area, sumptuous bathroom and comfortable bedroom. There was more cupboard space than we have at home! Every member of staff was unfailingly helpful and friendly...a true sign of a stylish establishment. We also loved the pool area and whirlpool tub. They were both great to float around in after a hard day sightseeing. Looking forward to a return visit!

The bath.
The room and the bathroom were luxurious. Clean, modern and ultra relaxing. From the wonderfully large balcony to the glowing fireplace, this room was everything we hoped for in a vacation space. The common areas were elegant, subdued and well-planned. We especially enjoyed a soak in the roof-top hot tub after our afternoon of biking around Stanley Park. We strolled to dinner each night with an easy walk to several great restaurant locations. There was construction occurring across the street from our room, but we never heard any noise inside of our room. Very professional and helpful staff.

2 night stay
I booked a 1 bedroom suite for our family to stay in prior to an Alaskan Cruise as we arrived 2 days before the cruise left. It worked out beautifully. I had read the reviews regarding the noise factor but was reassured by the manager's comments on TripAdvisor web site. I'm glad to say we could not hear any noise from the construction site inside our suite (but could hear it if on the balcony). Note: we were not facing the construction site. Having the kitchenette was wonderful as it allowed us to stay in at night while we acclimated to the new time zone (we traveled from Toronto). The location is perfect... many stores/restaurants and places to get some groceries were within a short walking distance. We were about a 5-10min walk from the main retail shopping section on Robinson. The concierge, Mr Wong, helped me arrange for wine, a delicious cheese/fruit platter and chocolates to be in the room prior to our arrival much to the surprise and delight of my family. I had read that the staff were all friendly and helpful...we were not disappointed. The night time chocolate on the pillow thrilled our daughter. One nice surprise - I found a washer/dryer in our suite which was great as it allowed us to do some laundry (you can never have enough cloths when traveling with kids!) I highly recommend the 1 bedroom suite in this hotel if you are traveling as a family.

There's a reason why this hotel is rated #1 in Vancouver
My husband and I were looking for a hotel in Vancouver, so we consulted Trip Advisor. With all the positive reviews this received, we decided to stay here. We came here directly from a cruise, and took a very short taxi ride (cost $7) to the hotel. All I can say is "WOW"! This hotel was everything we expected and more!!! I wish I could write a review of the rooms, but since the hotel ran out of them, they gave us a free upgrade to a suite. It was spectacular, and came with a full kitchen and a washer and dryer (don¿¿¿t worry ¿¿¿ they give you laundry detergent). The concierge was wonderful, and directed us to a great tour. He even steered us away for the ¿¿¿undesirable areas¿¿¿ in the city. The help was eager to help.We enthusiastically recommend this hotel. You won¿¿¿t be disappointed.
