Good location, great service
I stayed four nights for a conference - it's within walking distance of the convention/Staples/Nokia Theater. It's a boutique hotel, so I was prepared for the small-ish room. A little freaked out by the sliding glass bathroom door (glad I was traveling alone!). Room was clean, bed was comfortable, and the shower had nice pressure and good, hot water. Housekeeping was great, and there's a buffet Continental breakfast in the mornings. I wish there was more than one treadmill in the fitness room (you could use the nearby gym for free, but I'm not walking around downtown LA in the early am hours alone). The bar/restaurant is REALLY good - great service and yummy food. Everyone at the front desk could answer my goofy n00b questions. I forgot some clothes and they're mailing them to me (for free!), and promptly sent me an updated invoice that I needed for my finance peeps. I would stay there again. CON: I was awakened EVERY morning around 5:30 by the trash truck right under my window! Good thing I was still on East Coast time.

Very nice lobby, rooms average
The lobby and the whole interior is pretty nice. The rooms are ok, but none of them have a view. The subway is close by and you can travel easily to Union station and Hollywood. The great breakfast restaurant is on the other side of the street (ihop). The rooms are very noisy - we woke up two times at night because of high noise sources.

Ok with some annoyances.
I stayed at this hotel for a business trip. The room was small, but adequate for one person. Its a cool modern hotel but there were some major things that got on my nerves about this places.Pros:Close to the metro, 10 minute walk to convention center, staples center, Nokia theater.Cool modern design, nicely designed lobby/bar/restaurantIncluded continental breakfastFree wifi in rooms. Nice restaurant/bar on siteBed was really comfortableCons:Room was poorly lit, I had a corner room facing the wall and even with the shades open, all the lights on it was pretty dark.Layout was weird, glass sliding door to the bathroom/shower (mine actually didn't work) The desk was 4 feet away to the closest outlet so working was difficult and plugging in the coffee maker was hazardous.The shower was horrible. The design was cool I guess but the shower wand was not functional. you couldn't arc it downward so it would just spray straight out. Plus every time the bathroom would flood from the poor door design. I even asked the front desk and they said it was typical because of how the showers were renovated. Um ok. Even with plugging the gap under the door with towels there was still a puddle every single time.The sink area was weird, there was no counter space because the sink bowl took up the whole space and it was cramped.

Adequate
I was assigned to this hotel by a conference I attended. On the plus side, the hotel had a trendy vibe, starting with the multi-purpose lobby, and adjacent bar. The front desk staff was knowledgeable of the area, friendly and helpful when I needed to locate a certain retailer. The room was stark and poorly lit. There was no task lighting near the computer desk, leaving me to open the draperies for usable light. Since I was facing another very close building, proper attire was required. The bathroom lighting wasn't great for putting on makeup. The best lighting was in the small entry foyer where a huge dressing mirror was located. On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet and there was an iPod dock and the shower wand was great!

I got a double room but it had a view to a wall. Not a nice one if you ask me but I don't care a lot about that. Living in Rio de Janeiro kind of kills it when it comes to stunning views. The toilet had a glass door. It didn't bother me but be advised.The staff was extremely friendly and they helped us with everything we needed. They informed us about a nearby gym where we could use the pool for free and informed us about the internet connection. There was an outlet on the wall with high speed internet. Great.The breakfast was superb and I couldn't have enough of it. The orange juice was abundant and very good. Ice was available at large.The room was very well kept and clean. It also had a very modern feel to it. The entire hotel is designed in a way that makes you feel like you are inside of a 007 movie. It was a great way to meet people since there were parties going on inside of the hotel. They have quite a beautiful fireplace at the lobby and the elevator is somewhat unusual. I would stay there again without a thought and I recommend it to anyone planning to stay in Downtown Los Angeles. Location was great near the subway station and bus stops were everywhere around. Very easy to get around and there are many convenient places open 24/7 around the hotel, so you don't need to buy expensive room service if you have many options around the Hotel. There is a Subway restaurant open 24 hours nearby, as well as an ihop.Plan ahead and try to get a better rate if you are staying for a while.Wakeup calls worked perfectly and were free of charge.
