Girls trip
Little late but still worth the review . Last march my girlfriend and I took a break from the husbands and went to New Orleans . Wow what a great city loved it can't wait to go back with my husband he was not happy that I went without him, but the hotel was great the room very clean a little tired but I would expect that in a city that has so many visitors i would think all hotels in this city would be well used , but very clean and no problems . The staff were amazing they were so helpfull I wish I could remember the name of the young man who helped us at the concierge desk was amazing ,we told him we wanted to book some tours and dinner reservation we went out for a few hours , when we got back he had everything booked for us ,and he remembered our names and we had just checked in that afternoon once again amazing so if you ever want to go to a great city that has sooo much to see and do and I would go back to this hotel without second guessing the location is perfect a five minute walk to Burbon street over all great hotel great location great city ,I'm sold on this city.

Pleasant surprise near Canal St
We go to New Orleans several times a year and always stay in the Quarter. This time, because of Jazzfest, everything was booked so we tried an hotel just on the other side of Canal, near all the tourist traps. I was not expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel has been recently renovated and the lobby was beautiful. The rooms are generously sized and nicely renovated, especially the bathroom. There are good choices nearby for breakfast, both hole-in-the-wall and high-end. The pool looked small, but it was too cold to swim, anyway. I would stay there again.

Management???
Hard to rate this hotel. Marriott usually promises at least quality management if not the most charming of experiences. Good location, next to good restaurant - Mila, but guest services very spotty as well as room cleanliness. sometimes there was a doorman to help with taxis, sometimes, not. sometimes someone at the desk, sometimes not. One cab driver even said to walk a block to get a cab, cause no one wanted to stop for the particular doorman. Room had one door hanging off the hinge, peeling wallpaper, stained curtains and stains on upholstered bed finishings. Room service one day great, next day - no coffee, etc., etc. etc. Stayed there for 5 days and never knew what to expect. Essentially very spotty service overall and not up to standard.

Disappointing
Of all the Marriott properties we have stayed in the French Quarter and CBD, this has been our most disappointing experience. As mentioned previously, the one major positive is the location. The biggest negative is the rooms, which are definitely due for an upgrade - peeling wallpaper, discolored furniture and limited storage. Also, due to the hotel layout, room size is hit and miss, we've had a king room that was extremely spacious and contained a couch, and a king room at the same rate that was barely big enough to hold the bed, dresser and desk (no seating other than the desk chair). Noise can also definitely be an issue - yes, the bell tower is lovely, but a little distance is nice. Our window on this visit was literally a few feet from the bell itself - when they started ringing at 7 in the morning, it was like they were in the room (no wake up call required). Service was also spotty - on our first day there, we were in the lobby waiting for our room to be ready. A hostess set up and began offering bloody mary's to everyone walking by - we were ignored. As we got up to pick up our key, I asked her about it and was told it was for hotel guests. Okaaay.... I can't imagine that they get too many visitors to the city who choose to hang out in the always deserted Pere Marquette lobby (at 1 in the afternoon), unless they were a hotel guest. Mixed service level from the front desk as well. With all the other NOLA options available (including Marriott), we will stay elsewhere on future visits.

Excellent Reaissance!
I really wanted to stay close to the action, but have a really nice hotel I could enjoy, and for me, this was it. The rooms are beautiful, and well maintaned. I really enjoyed the lobby, however, the entire time we were there, the bar was never opened. The staff was very friendly, and check in was great. The views are great too, and it's perfectly located to walk into the French Quarter, but far enough away that you are not bothered by the craziness at night.
