Hidden Gem
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel and all 4 of us were of the opinion we would stay here again.I purposely booked this hotel so that we would NOT be in the heart of the party atmosphere of the French Quarter but close enough that we could still visit, enjoy and stagger back if required. We were within walking distance (3 blocks) of grabbing the St Charles Streetcar to head to the Garden District and walked to the French Quarter daily (6 blocks to the heart of it).It was nice to stay in a hotel where you could get a good nights sleep without people partying in the halls.Our rooms were spacious, clean, had comfy beds and a decent sized bathroom. We had no issues with unwanted noise from other guests and we stayed on the 2nd floor which was perfectly fine.We didn't eat at the restaurant downstairs but did have a nightcap one evening at the bar and had some great conversation with some fellow guests and the bartender. We didn't have too much interaction with the hotel staff however check-in/check-out was very easy with a personable staff member.Also, there is a local bar across the street named Lucy's that we did make a stop or two at.I should mention that if you are odor sensitive you may have issues with the lobby as it is heavily 'perfumed', however I quite enjoyed it and it was a much nicer smell than Bourbon Street.

Not worth it, find another hotel
First, I booked three rooms with this place, through Marriott.Com, and they messed up my reservation. They charged the wrong credit card, and without asking me changed the name to my other guests names, which I never once asked for. I received poor customer service, and the three bottles of champagne that were sent up due to their mistake did not make up for it. The rooms were not even stocked properly with shampoo and towels. There are many other hotels that are better located, and probably offer better treatment. For the over 3000 dollars I spent for one weekend, I expected more, especially for a Platinum Member.

Good spot
Nice Hotel, its a bit of walk from the French quarter or Marigny, but there are some interesting restaurants and bars in the area near the hotel. The roof top pool was quite nice, albeit small. Staff are generally nice, and I would stay here again.

Great location, super customer service!
I stayed here for a confernce in early March, the location was perfect, both walking distance from the convention center, and a reasonable walk or short ride to the French quarter. Hotel was clean, updated and safe. There was a city wide water contamination warning during my stay. Upon check in the hotel provided information on hte water situation and a gallon of bottled water. Many others at this confernce stayed at other hotels were not warned nor provided any resources. The staff at the renaissance made sure I was informed as well as had whatever I needed to make my stay more comfortable. Great stay!

Great location and Attractive Hotel, but..
We stayed at the Renaissance Arts Hotel during Spring Break this year. The hotel is very attractive and interesting with all the artwork. It is in a great location in the Warehouse district and within easy walking distance to many attractions. We did not realize that the room would be an interior room and consequently it was somewhat dark. Our window looked out on an art display. I didn't realize before this how much I rely on looking out the window to check on the weather and what to wear! Our biggest concern was with the housekeeping staff. First, the day we got there, there was a broken glass by the wall in the hallway near our room. It was still there 2 days later so we told the front desk and it was cleaned up right away. Our room seemed clean enough, but it was a constant battle to get what we needed! There were 3 of us registered in the room but sometimes we'd get just 2 towels, or one washcloth, or no hand towels. They brought the linens up when we called, but not always what we'd asked for. One time they brought us a big pile of towels when we needed one. Another time when we asked for some hand towels they brought us 5 washcloths. We also didn't get shampoo or conditioner about half the time. The night before we left I called again. They brought a bag with 9 little bottles in it, not one of them shampoo!! The other concern for us was that their website said they had an on property laundry. When we asked where it was they looked at us as though we were crazy. There was no laundry. The only thing was the service you pay for. Since we'd packed thinking we'd do a few loads of wash, we ended up washing clothes in the bathtub! It would have cost about $100 to have the service do the laundry we had! Another point to pay attention to is that if you want internet it's about $12 a day. Hard to believe in this day and age when you can get internet in fast food restaurants and much less expensive hotels. The staff was very friendly and helpful with advice and how to find local attractions. However, with all the choices in New Orleans, I don't think I would stay here again.
