Clean, convenient & cost effective...what more can you say!!
Just got back from New York last night and stayed at the Salisbury for 5 nights. The location is convenient to the majority of what travelers come to see. Staff is helpful when questions are asked. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable & showers hot. That's the most important criteria in New York. Too much to do for staying in your hotel room. The noise...well, it's New York! We would definitely stay there again.Although they offer a breakfast at the hotel ($10 person), there is a Dali Market just 2 doors down that has a fantastic & reasonably priced deli ($4.00 for egg, cheese & ham on whole wheat bread, about the same for omlets). Filling breakfast with coffee for 2..about $11.50. Also, the Cafe Metro just down the street (200 W. 57th at 7th), is highly recommended for lunch & dinner (huge salad, beverage about $10).

Wow. Just wow.
The Salisbury Hotel is definately one of NYC's best kept secrets. With a walk of a few blocks to get to Times Square, one block to Central Park and one block to Fifth Ave, it is definately the place to stay!The staff were amazing and so helpful. There were plenty of restaurant/cafe suggestions in our room and the rooms...well....they were HUGE. Ours was a twin room (double beds) with a full bathroom (bath included), huge walk in closet with another 'store room' that doubled as a second closet and a small kitchenette.Perhaps the best thing about this hotel was the $9 continental breakfast. Yum. And good value.There is a starbucks across the street with free WIFI or internet is available at very reasonable rates.The hotel also organised a transfer to the airport for us (which was the same price as a cab) and a stretch limo drove us. Nice. Absolute movie star treatment!!

Great location
So close to so many attractions Central Park, Times Square. Nothing seemed dreadfully far away. Had breakfast added to our booking, basic continental, but was fine if not busy. Rooms were lovely and big, two double beds. Fridge and coffee making facilities. Couldn't fault the place too much. Internet access expensive though.

Very good, but beware the receptionist!
Arrived hot and tired after a long flight from the UK. Was NOT made aware that they wanted to take $50 towards room charges incurred whilst staying- I proffered my card, and the receptionist with the attitude stated they would charge it NOW. So please be aware that they do this, and that the said receptionist (she was on Monday at 3pm, and her demeanour was disgusting) will have a go at you as you argued it.That aside, the rest of the staff were superb, especially Rodney on nights, had a few nice chats with him), and Nick, the bellboy. The room was superb, clean, tidy, and well looked after, safe with key in the room, 3 walk in closets, flat screen in both rooms (1606), we kept the fridge stocked with cold drinks, they provide complimentary coffee for the coffee machine, with condiments. I think we used the microwave a couple of times, ate out the rest of the time.Location was superb, 5 minutes walk to Central Park, 10 to Times Square, 5 to 5th Avenue. There is a Duane Reade Pharmacy down the block, that sells EVERYTHING- including cigarettes ($11 a pack- $14 elsewhere!) and beer for the fridge ($7.99 for 6 Budweisers- $12 elsewhere). Stock up for when you get in, theres no room service, but the Pharmacy is open 24 hours a day for snacks and whatever.I also recommend PJ carneys pub for the authentic NY experience, all the guys who work selling the tours go in here, so it has a superb atmosphere, and serves a superb pint of Guinness!

Salisbury Hotel NYC
We read some unfavorable things about this hotel, but tried it anyway.We were very impressed with the spacious room we had. (Did not expect an iron board/Iron)Even though our room faced the street, 16 floors up was rather quiet. It is right across from Carnegie Hall and a high end Grocery store. We loved the hotel, service and location. We'll be back.
