Must try harder..
The missus had a work gig in the Park Suite, so I thought I'd tag along and spend the day in the old home town while she works. I'm just relieved I got a deal on booking.com for this place. When I saw the tariff at reception - ¿¿329 for a double room, I thought we were in for a treat. The reception area itself and bar / restaurant aren't too shabby, but watch out - a pint of regulation lager and an Archer's and lemonade cost just shy of fourteen quid. Crikey! The room was poor. You can check out the pictures I have posted if you are in doubt. Paint peeling off the ceiling which had brown stains on it, and the state of the finish was amateurish to say the least. Screws protruding from various peeling panels, and bedside lampshade hanging off. Turned the 'aircon' on only to find it has one setting. Flat out - and very noisy. And it wasn't aircon at all, just a fan behind some louvres, which were dirty and dusty. So we turned it off and we opened the window where a few feet away a vent was running all night which prevented any decent sleep. I spoke to the manageress next morning who was nice - apologetic, as expected, offering discount on next visit. Then we had housekeeping banging on the door at 7.45am. Goodness me. Breakfast? Why do some hotels provide plates which aren't much bigger than saucers? I've only ever seen plates this size in hotels. The food was awful. The bacon and hash browns I retrieved didn't have a drop of moisture left in them after being exposed to those infernal hot lamps above the counter which are meant to keep the food heated. Completely frazzled more like, having the same texture as biscuits. And you know when you go somewhere, and you think, 'I could cook better than this'? Point made. I pity any poor bugger who pays the full asking price.

Oh dear !
Arranged a surprise birthday cake and balloons to be placed in room for sons birthday as wonderful surprise about two weeks ago by telephone and email. Upon arrival a poorly spoken receptionist pointed out that the cake and balloons were in our room for the birthday surprise!!!! To myself and my son!!!! I said that completely ruins the surprise to which the receptionist immediately questioned whether I was still going to pay for the cake and ballon??? No apologies....and awkward silences and no explanation. The smell in the corridors was terrible, there was no safe in our room, no mini bar, no movie options and the twin beds were so hard that we were forced to ask for extra duvets for padding! Which were brought and duly dumped on our floor. The nearest tube is either a long 15mins or 25 min walk, or ¿¿4.50 or ¿¿8.00 taxi fare to the nearest tube station.Actually the breakfast selection is very good and well prepared and presented. After a night of no sleep due to the springs sticking out of the mattress into our rib cages we were woken at 8.50 am (sunday morning) by the housekeeping staff who asked, and I quote,"When are you getting out of your room?"ClassicApparently, the dept manager will be addressing the problems in the hotel and getting back to me, hopefully with a refund!

I have just spent a weekend at the Danubius with a group of friends. We were too early for our rooms to be ready but they were happy to store our luggage until then. We took a 5 minute walk into Regents Park for a picnic lunch then into the city centre. The hotel is a short walk from St John's Wood tube station or Baker Street. The rooms were clean and tidy, no problems with pillows or comfort of beds as I had seen mentioned in another review. Toiletries and a hairdrier and tea and coffee making facilities were provided although there was no mention of this on the website. The staff were extremely polite and friendly both in the reception and in the dining room when we had breakfast. A good selection of food. We were able to leave our luggage after we had booked out to enable us to spend Sunday in the city, then pick it up before going to the station for our train.

Wonderful hotel situated close to central London
This hotel is perfect for anyone who enjoys spending time in London, the hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from the tube station or a 40 min walk to Oxford street. However due to its location the rooms are peaceful, I had three very good night sleeps in the large comfortable bed. The rooms are very modern kitted out with a large flat screen tv, modern bathroom with a shower and Internet access. I was based on one of the higher floors of the hotel and had great views over the London skyline. Housekeepers re filled the tea and coffee daily and tidied the place up. All in all would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to London

Below expectations
I stayed at the hotel for two nights with my partner. The room was a decent size for a central London hotel, however the level of road noise as well as the noise from adjoining rooms was entirely unacceptable. The bed, whilst being large, was extremely uncomfortable as was the rest of the bedding. There was no iron in the room and when requested it did not arrive. We requested it a second time and eventually a woman brought it whilst complaining that she was unable to find a porter. We were woken up on the second morning at 08:30 by housekeeping ,knocking on the door for no apparent reason. The bar service was extremely slow and lacked the standards of politeness you would expect from a hotel such as this.On the up side we had a meal in the restaurant (Thursday is an Indian buffet) which exceeded our expectations. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. I have stayed in far better hotels in central London at a more reasonable rate than this. I would not therefore recommend it, you can do far better.
